Lavery

Never been a fan. His touch his awful and has no quality.

Thought he would be great this season after his first 2 goals against Burton but clearly not

He was definitely better in the 2nd half but I suppose that wasn’t difficult. Put himself about a lot more and close defenders down better.
Didn’t do a lot wrong with the penalty ( ok he didn’t score) but he hit the target, he hit it hard and low to one side but fair play to the keeper for a good save. That said, for a midget in goal, you would expect the striker to score.
Certainly a few there had a worse game…Coulson for one, Beesley apart from his headed goal was dire, & CJ was being CJ.

Byers was my MOM for us, Lavery was much better second half. Carey good for 60 but runs out of steam, Bees also up there. CJ did okay tonight, he's an easy target but it was his assist again, Grimmy outstanding and the defence held firm although couldn't see much wrong with their goal. Shame Rhodes is injured though.

Coulson was decent, Bees very very good and CJ good too, not sure how you come to those conclusions?

Seems like a long time ago that he burst into the team in the championship and couldn't stop scoring, thought we had a star who we'd end up selling for 10 million.

I really like him though as a person, not sure of his contract situation but assuming he has another year i'd keep him and hope he has a run free of injuries where he can regain some confidence

All about opinions and I’m standing by mine. Coulson had good energy but didn’t set anything up and gave the ball away a lot.
Beesley similar in that his control was abysmal…one stray pass in the first half nearly led to the Cod’s scoring. There were plenty of others.

1st half he was poor but he did okay 2nd half. It was effort more so than ability that made him look decent but I'll take the effort. I'd be letting him go at the end of the season though as I think we need better.

No he wasn't. Byers was better for one.
I thought Byers was superb in the first half . . his best game for us but faded in the second and didn't seem to get involved enough . . .same with Carey.

Lavery seemed to come to life in the second half playing more on the left.

Not the same player from the first season we signed him. He hasn't improved and become the player we all wanted him to be.
Unfortunately he has suffered too many injuries especially since his last hamstring injury, then for me he has come back and seemed to have lost his pace.
Shane also gets caught off side far too many times for my liking and gives away way far too many free kicks. I like his passion and his song though.

He runs like a girl, with his lower legs flailing out at a funny angle
TBH, I'm surprised nobody has spotted this and tried to coach him to run in a more orthodox manner. I don't know if that splayed footed style is a root cause of his injury problems but it must affect his balance and ball control. He's a good lad and started the season well but his injuries have blighted his career.

he’s a midfielder whether that be on the wing like in the second half or in the middle breaking from deep going at defenders.
No more of this headless chicken running around the front line business.
He needs to be coached as a winger/CAM and work with the ball not without it.
Wasting him…
In fact, him and Carey should swap roles. Or him and virtue.

He is stealing a living , would not get in a half decent West Lancs team , crap
Once again ,another game where the ball was given to him from height or distance with a bigger and faster player marking him . Put the ball to his feet and he would be more of a problem to the opposition . Also we would never have had the penalty if it had not been for his persistence and work rate . Ok he did not score off the pen ,but it was more of a good save rather then a poor pen.

Like most players this season he’s not playing to his strengths due to the team set up IMO

Lavery seems to get mostly long or high balls where if you are small you have not got the physical strength or outright speed to beat big defenders . If you think Beesley or Kuassi can dribble then your wrong . Lavery can be a handful being given the right balls . His work rate is excellent and he earned the penalty . What I saw was a bloke desperate to score and took a decent pen that was saved . Now we have the on line lemmings that have to jump on the slagging and can't see the positives

" On line lemmings" brilliant, wish I'd thought of that. I wish they would all run over a cliff and disappear. Just about every thread on here descends into slagging off the manager, individual players, sadler, the club, progress off the field, etc. Not what true supporters do.
