Cod’s away support

I always knew it was grim in numbers but that was absolutely pitiful last night. Have we had a confirmed number? Thinking 700 ish?

Their “local derby” against their “fierce rivals” and they turned up in a couple of blocks.

Genuinely, I’ve seen more people Hogan Cup finals than a League 1 game as you’re fighting to stay up…

The good news is, we won’t have to play them again in a League fixture for a long long time and they can get back to being rivals with Kirkham and Wesham. It’ll also help out a few of our fans just to concentrate on us now, despite their fishy fondness.

Proper tinpot that, for their biggest away game of the season.

Not embarrassing, just a combination of low support generally, a crap season, cost.
Course it is. They tell everyone how much they hate Blackpool and it’s their biggest game of the season and they turned up like that.

It wasn’t even half-term so wasn’t a school night for half their support & Liverpool and Man United weren’t on telly.

Pretty pathetic turnout I agree but I’m more concerned that we ended up struggling to beat such a poor outfit..if they had scored at the end and finished 1-1 then there would be a very different atmosphere in the ground and on here. I do think we were the better side but a team with a bit more quality would have punished our dodgy defending at least once in each half. They looked as toothless as we do and I’m sure they will go down and really struggle to come back up.
Two unconvincing 1-0 wins in which we ended up holding on for grim death. Whilst we are winning the manager will get away with these negative boring tactics but if we stop winning the crowd will turn on him. He is more and more like Grayson mark two every game and it’s not a great spectacle.

I don’t disagree with any of that.

The football and style of play is boring and shite. There’s not enough options offensively when we get the ball and we have a reliance on our centre backs to step out and create which I’m baffled by considering we’ve not got Franz Beckenbauer and Rio Ferdinand at the back.

Spot on

Pathetic numbers what made it worse they offered 35% off club shop items if you bought for BR(which they make a £1 off)as a bribe to sell more tickets.😂

It was a poor effort, it's their biggest game, their only real derby, 7 miles away, basically a home game.

From FB, looked poor from the north but from the west...

I know they're not in a good position and a weeknight knocks a few off but... it just shows how tinpot they are.

They've punched massively above their weight and actually benefited from our boycott, only have to look back a few years and the numbers and feeling was massively different.

They were literally riding an unsustainable wave back then backed by their now jailed owners cash.

Reality is now biting.

This thread really making me feel my age. When I was watching regularly in 60s / early 70s fleetwood lads were all Blackpool fans. Only thing fleetwood was famous for was end of the tramline.

Next tuesday away at posh probably only 50 and same again at Leyton orient

I think trouble in the past and a horrendous record at Bloomfield Road put a few off, still terrible numbers though.

I had an interesting journey home last evening on the Football Special tram.

What I assume must be the Fleetwood ‘massive’ got on the tram and filled about half of it chanting incoherently about their hate for all things Blackpool.

It amused me that they were all aged about 12-14 and behaved like it was the first time they had been allowed out without supervision. Their jumping up and down jogged the tram and the entire Lancs constabulary were on the scene with video cameras. Three vans escorted the tram back to Fleetwood.

Their chant of wreck the tram resulted in about four officers boarding the tram at the Cliffs. The conductor was excellent throughout.

All in all for the Cod’s main support it was pretty sad.

It is a bit crap....and it also isn't if you look at the various threads on this board regarding not buying ST'S, not bothering watching Pool next year if Critchley stays and we only finish 7th or 8th. I could go on.

So, considering they are about to go down and have been really shit all season, what does that say about some of our more gobby fans on here who are happy to mock their low turnout but won't support their own team just because we have underperformed and haven't 'pissed the league'?

You know what, if they are already relegated before their last match at home to Burton I might just pop down just to have the joy of watching em slink off into the distance 😆

So that's 25% of their home support in a relegation season, still poor given the 7 mile distance between the clubs but does add a little context. It's the equivalent of us taking 2500 on a Tuesday night.
We took close to 4,000 to Bolton, so 2,500 to Fleetwood would be no problem. Except they give us 750.

We took 4000 on a Saturday when we were pushing for the Play Offs. All this bollocks about away support is exactly that, they're a small club and always will be, expecting them to bring 2000 was never going to happen, it hasn't happened when they've been playing well on a Saturday.

I wonder how many of them regret jumping on the Pilley bandwagon and wish they'd supported the proper League team of the Fylde Coast?

Interesting to see how they react to the first ever relegation.
Some truth in that. Used to play football at poolfoot. Young kids forced into those shit red tops. Could see the longing of tangerine in their eyes.

We took a full offering to Preston when we were shit. Don't see your point. A six mile trip and less than 800 turn up is appalling and not deserving League One status.

Well they won't have that soon and I agree, the point I'm making is why does it matter? We all know they're a small club, with a small fanbase. It's like Man Utd fans having a pop at our support numbers.

I think Man U fans take a pop at other clubs who consider themselves 'rivals'

They have given it the big un for a few years.

Probably the most important rivals match ever, with what was at stake, and they've actually chosen to watch the Champions League.

Now they aren't being funded by someone who has used illegally earned money to bank roll them, they are heading back to where they came from. 👋

I've no doubt in another few years, things will revert back to most in Fleetwood following Blackpool, those that aren't plastic Scousers or Mancs that is. By the time Pilley has stopped worrying about picking the soap up, his vanity project will be watched by 10 men and their dogs again.
