Now all the EPL clubs have submitted accounts for 22/23, the overall figures (courtesy of Maguire) are interesting :
In summary we have here a League that partly justifies not raising the share of broadcasting revenue going the EFL on the grounds that it is worried that it will just lead to an increasing spiral in unsustainable spending - itself generating a massive rise in operating losses and spending.
- revenue £6.1 billion (up 11%)
- operating losses : £1.23 billion (up 44%)
- player purchases : £3.0 billion (up 57%)
- player sales : £0.98 billion (up 17 %)
- transfer debt: £3.0 billion (up 62%)
