Barnsley pot their manager

Madness. Does this work out for us? Bit of chaos behind the scenes may hinder them final day.

Hopefully no new manager bounce, we never seem to get that!

That's two managers we've put to the sword this season after Forest Green sacked their manager after our drubbing of them in the cup in December.

It should've been three were we not cruelly denied a reunion with Michael Appleton when Charlton potted him days before they were due to come to town.

Makes sense, probably like us in that we feel that we should be doing much better with the squad we have and they're already planning on sacking him when the season is over so why wait when they could potentially get the new manager bounce now to secure Playoffs?

I agree with FCB - based on recent results and performances, Collins appears to have lost the changing room.
The chairman must be so concerned with recent results, that he believes with Collins in charge, they're likely to blow their playoff position on Saturday. Hence be brave, pot him now, rejuvenate the changing room and the home crowd and beat the Cobblers.
It's a big decision. Is he right? We'll see on Saturday.

Its been said that the new manager bounce doesn't often work , not sure of the stats though! Looks like his no2 is in charge so we can hope it's normal service resumed.
Anyway we just need to concentrate on doing our business and then hope for the best

Neil Critchley tells the gazette that the draw of Oakwell was one that he simply couldn’t pass over (two months after the event) and he was sorry he couldn’t say goodbye to Norburn and CJ.

Would be happy if all three went Oakwell tbh

A very shrewd move by the board IMO.
They won’t have a new manager by Saturday but they will appoint an interim manager from inside the club who will know all their players and their attributes, and is well liked by the players.
They will no doubt win on Saturday which then gives them the closed season to pick a manager for the Championship.

Don't think he's ever been popular with their fan base. Bit like someone not so far from home
I realise we experience a perverse kind of pleasure whenever he finds himself a bit under the cosh, but I'm not so sure this is quite the right time to be dragging the good name of Ryan Lowe into the debate ...

I'm not quite sure that there's much statistical fact behind ,' new manager ipso facto upturn in teams immediate performance ,' . Plus we saw how nervy we got late on on Saturday with so much hanging on the result . Likely to put more pressure on the Barnsley team due to illogical increased expectations from their already incredibly fickle fans .
If anyone with too much time on their hands can dig out bona fida new manager bounce evidence then I'll wind my neck in a bit 😉

You could tell on Saturday something was very wrong.
Clearly the board think get rid of the manager and they might change the mood around Oakwell.
Big gamble which might work but ultimately I doubt will win them the Play Offs.

I think this could be very good for us or very or make no difference at all. I'm not sure really apart from the fact we have no fecking chance anyway.

This is bad news in my opinion. If they had got off to a bad start against N'Hampton then the crowd would've turned toxic against the team and more importantly manager again.

So promoting Devaney is akin to us putting Dobbie in charge last season so he will not be held responsible for what has gone before. Quite a clever move by their board who have deflected the shit storm that was coming their way. A win on Saturday and everything will suddenly turn in their favour.
