Actually the first time I have ever agreed with him. The BBC is annoyingly politically correct over and over which again was seen with the Strictly contestant lineup over the last couple of days 😡😡
 
Just read the article, he has a point to be fair - but we’re only getting one side of the story.

It might also be because he has literally nothing of value to add to any situation in which he comments on football other than tired sighs, cliches and 'witty' observations like 'ooh, those shirts are bright Alan, I wish I'd brought my sunglasses'

If that's what wokedom will get rid of, bring me some wheatfree tofu, take me to a safe space and show me where I can tell you my pronouns (it/that).

It's new competition exposing the tired old world of people who had non-ironic, non-hipster moustaches up till quite recently to the demi-pansexual-nongender-binary community and their searing analytical skillz.
 
I played with Lawro at BJFF he was a shy lad who in them days was a skilful right winger dead skinny . He lived in Lytham his Dad was on the board at nobbers which helped him getting signed on as a apprentice. My mate was also a apprentice there the story goes one day he was still a winger but during one game they were getting hammered they put him at the back and the rest is history a lucky break for him
 
Representation of different groups is just not on, who do these people think they are? They should stay together in their minorities and not ruin television programmes. I get very angry when the status quo is challenged, I'm pushing 50 and these trendy youth types are ruining everything. When dynamic, enthusiastic presenters like Lawro can't get a job then enough is enough.

The only reason I still post on here is because it's forever the 1970s when everyone knew their place.

I wonder how long he wants a job for when his experience become less relevant by the day. I liked the guy but don’t listen to him now or value his opinions on football today or his acerbic asides.

The BBC will have researched his current appeal and decided that he not longer has much of an audience. Happens to us all in the end.
 
Boring, a Nobber and bordering on the depressive but what a Rolls Royce of a defender. You thought the centre forward had him and out came that trusty leg.

If woke is taking the piss out of older white men constantly complaining about things changing, casually reminding them that droning on and on about how things were better when they were young is just what they used to take the piss out of back when they were young, then get me the wokey uniform and a big lefty name badge.

I tell you what Nigel - I wouldn't have wanted to tell Souey* he didn't belong in Liverpool! Can you imagine! (chuckle to self) Rather you than me Nigel.

*As an aside I've recently read Paisley's autobiography and actually, on the matter of race and in particular the topic of Howard Gayle who suffered a lot at the hands of the squad and some of the coaching staff, Souness comes out with a lot of credit for sticking up for him and self consciously making Gayle part of 'his gang' cos of the stick he was taking.
 
Tbh I didn’t mind him.

I expect his agent will get him an appearance on ‘I’m A Celebrity’ or ‘Celebrity Masterchef’ or similar. 😬😜

Yeah, I read an article somewhere written by Gayle, he had big problems with Tommy Smith (who was a complete dick by all accounts) being racist, to the point where it kicked off on training and Souness backed Gayle up, he speaks very highly of him.

Souness has made mistakes but he does seem to be a genuinely decent bloke.

I remember him being the analyst in the commentary box at the Stoke away match in the Prem. Pool played in the light and dark blue stripes - as we had done the game before at Sunderland. On seeing the kit Lawrenson blurted out, "blue stripes, what's that all about?" Well Mark, if you'd done even the slightest bit of homework before the game you'd have known it was our main shirt in the 1930s.
 
I remember reading an article quoting one of his old (or rather, a bit on the young side for a scruffy old nobber) girlfriends. She said he was a complete tightarse and liked nothing better than knocking trades people for their bills. Somehow reminded me of someone......

Heard similar...

He had a guy fit blinds in his house for an agreed fee.

When it came to payment, the Scruffy Nobber tried to wrangle his way out of it, saying the guy could use his mame as a celebrity client....

He was told to #### off and pay up. 😆
 
And yet... when you see replacements like Jermaine Jenas, who is the blandest of bland TV presenters, on every programme going, maybe, just maybe he has a point
