    Denis Law

Many years ago I had an appointment to survey a flat in Didsbury. When the owner came to the door he said, 'When you come inside just to let you know that Denis Law is sitting on my sofa'. I thought it must be a mate who looked like him but it was the man himself. The guy who owned the flat was...

Might have to miss the start of the season, advice please

I had my right hip done 7 years ago when I was 61. Very successful operation. I'm now waiting to see the consultant to have the other one done. Like others have said, don't rush things and do as you're told by the physio. I was lucky as my gym at the time was part of a physiotherapy practise run...

Games you’ll simply never get over

I was living near Pontypridd at the time and went to that game with a mate who was a Cardiff fan. I was sure that something dodgy went on there as was my mate. Worst involving Pool was the second leg against Bradford.

    Marsden (Huddersfield) to Bloomers

We were in rented in Marsden for three months before Xmas and it's an easy drive to J21 of M62. Took me about 1 hr 20 mins to get home but sometimes longer with the traffic to get to Blackpool. If you like real ale and a friendly pub with a cracking atmosphere get in the Riverhead.

    Is this man human?

Kevin Sinfield is a really genuine down to earth fellah. He went to the same local school as both my lads and my older lad who coaches tennis in the States coached his lads at tennis for a while. His older lad is highly rated in rugby league and I think he recently signed his first pro contract...

    O/T Dr John Cooper Clarke

Glad to hear he was on form as I went to see him a couple of years ago at the Bridgewater Hall with one of my lads and he forgot his lines a few times. First time I saw him was late 70's in London with a fellow Pool fan when we both worked down there. I'd never heard of him and had no idea who...

    The Green

We also had a shop on Highfield Rd(Women and kids clothes) and lived above the shop. Moved there in 1959 from Halifax when I was 4 so a bit young for the green. Remember waiting for it on St David's Rd South in St Annes and Woodlands Rd Ansdell where we also lived above the shop and there was a...
