Great storyEvery time I see a thread named after him my heart sinks I saw him live when I was 14 and then I had the great fortune to meet him on a train when I was 16. At the time I was doing some online volunteer writing for NME and he agreed to let me interview him. Everytime I phoned he was “just in the middle of cooking some spag bol son can you phone back tomorrow”. But eventually we had a good 2 hour phone call and to this day I can’t believe my luck at the experience, such a brilliant and humble bloke. He gave me one of the best pieces of advice: “Find an artist you really admire, copy everything they do in your own voice and you’ll be a huge success”!
