£4m is far too cheap for Jerry !

Interesting debate, what Jerry is worth. Hes a great finisher and will get goals in the right set up, and goals getters cost money. He's probably not Prem level though, not quick enough, cant hold that central position on his own. We wont get 10m for him. We will get what the highest bidder offers. It'll almost certainly be a Championship club. If it is 4m we could get approximately 4 Brannagans for that. Or a Brannagan, a Norburn and a Langstaff. If we could afford the wages!

Rovers got Niall Ennis for nothing

The likes of Cannon, Simms and Archer came into the league on loan

Posh are selling Clarke -Harris with a year left, which is going to weigh on what they ask

So clubs have other options, which is going to weigh on the likelihood of getting a silly fee for Jerry

Had we had a decent creative midfield in the Championship, Jerry would have scored plenty more. He’d be £10m with another 5 goals in a team that had stayed up.

He ended up playing wide and often more in a defensive role. We shouldn’t base our asking price on what we managed to get out of him, due to our inept recruitment and manager appointments.

Along with losing a significant chunk of revenue due to relegation, not getting what Jerry is worth is further evidence that we are not running things well, with the bigger picture in mind. There is no point SS saving pennies when he’s throwing away pounds. Be careful yes, but be competitive.

I was looking at Aaron Collins for Bristol Rovers as someone we could potentially look at as a Jerry replacement. Only played one season in league one, striker scored 16 and was named player of the year. Scored a lot in league 2.

Joey Barton has valued him more in the region of Scott Twine which was 5 million.

So yeah, Jerry should be way above that.

Let’s hope there is not a release clause of 4 million.

A striker who can play right back should add another few quid 🤔

I'd much rather Jerry stayed, but he deserves to be playing at championship level. With a 1+1 left , and a bidding war,I'm expecting 4.5m but hoping for 5.5m

We really do need to get rid of this "little Blackpool " reputation.

If we build a decent team, Jerry will score the goals required to get us promoted.

Replacing a proven goal scorer is not super easy. Most of that money would be used to replace him, so why bother selling him for that price? Plus if he does prove to be integral to promotion he would pay for himself with the increased championship revenue.

He has time left in his contract too so we are in a strong position. I don't see the point in selling him for less than 8m. Is that slightly over the odds? Probably, but that's what we want.

Forget the fee all about wages nowadays if a Club come in a double Jerry's salary he'll be off hardly any loyalty in football then it's a case how much we can get and if that's 4 million so be it.

I love Jerry but he plays better in a two up top and is average as a lone striker which a lot of clubs like to play now.

When did we last sell a player for what they were truly worth?

George Wood, Paul Hart, Paul Stewart, Tricky Trev, Super Brett and Ince…all sold at under their true market value, from my perspective.

He’s 20+ goals in League 1 but don’t think that translates to championship if you take away the pens, he got most of his goals in a burst. Critchley had him in and out last season. Think the Rangers link was probably agent talk.

Sadly if he leaves I think he’ll struggle to hold down a place in any other championship team and that’s exactly what he doesn’t need, he’s a confidence player.

Proven 20+ League 1 goalscorer.
Keeping him probably puts us back up. Lose him... and we cannot replace him for £4m
Show some ambition please !
Well he’s not going to another L1 club so his goal record at that level isn’t what’s under consideration. Of course we could use part of his fee to replace him as strikers don’t cost £4m in the third tier.
It’s not really about ambition, it’s about whether or not he wants to stay or move and double his wages and play at a higher level. I’m genuinely not sure if anyone will pay £4m for someone who isn’t prolific in the Championship. Money is tight everywhere and we may still hang on to him. I rate him in L1 but in the Championship he will never bang then in for fun. I just hope it’s sorted quickly either way.

Realistically, he's not worth more than 4m, 4m is about right imo.

A lot of his goals were pens and he was on the bench for most of the first season at championship level. He's nailed on for 20+ in league one though so he might be worth more than 4m to us.

Yeah I agree, 4 million is about right. 23 goals in 99 Championship appearances is hardly prolific and probably10 of those are penalties, although those have all come for lower end clubs.

We said the exact same thing at the start of the season with all the speculation about Josh Bowler and his potential transfer fee, but only ended up getting £4M for him. I think we could get up to £5M at the most for Jerry Yates, who, as a player is all action and Pool fans love him for that. Whenever he plays in a front two, and we are pressing high, everthing about the team looks better. I feel that if Jerry plays in League One for Pool next season, it's wasting a season of his career. If he signed for Rangers, who only have about 3 or 4 teams capable of giving them any problems, Jerry could really stack up quite a lot of goals, earning himself a small fortune in the process.
