£500k bid for Owen Dale

Crewe are being held over a barrel by a few agents at the moment, and I see their refusal to accept £500K as an attempt to dig their heels in. Dale only has twelve months left to run on his contract.

That said, whereas we capitalised on signing players with a year left on their deals last season, this season it's proving more difficult, particularly when clubs have seen some players at the top level go for silly money with 12 months to run on their deals.

We have Madine & Mitchell back soon, along with bowler, lavery, Yates & Holmes Hopefully Simms too, so do we need him?
Rather get Simms!
What's happened to Holmes?

To be honest we are awash with midfielders. We need to prioritise the Right back slot so that Connolly can either play or cover centre half and Husband can get back to left back releasing Garbutt further up the pitch. Too many square pegs in defence at the moment !
In midfield we are struggling to put out what we need, hence James covering in there already this season. Stewart and Virtue out, now Ward. It's an area we need to strengthen IMO. If Dougall got injured now we'd be well knackered.

We’ve also got the very impressive Carey, who NC seems to have forgotten about. Might see him in the Cup, but what about the league?
His highlights reel was just as impressive.

This lad can certainly finish
23 goals in 149 appearances, hardly prolific, as has been said above do we need him? If price reasonable may be ok, but 1 mill no thanks. We should as many others have said sort out a right back first. No matter what Critchley says about Connolly, whilst doing his best and a reasonable job. He is definitely not a RB. Priorities please.

He was Crewe's player of the season last season, in a side that also has Charlie Kirk. He'd be a great signing. 22 years old, with huge potential, big sell on value, and Critchley to get the best out of him. Exactly the sort of player we should be going for as a long term investment.

From Crewe website:

Owen Dale capped off an impressive year on the pitch by claiming four awards at the end of season presentation.

Our number 19 was nominated Players' Player of the Season, Player of the Season, Goal of the Season and The Railwaymen Podcast Player of the Season.

Could always sweeten the deal with a decent sell on percentage for them. (Hoping that there’s cash left for Gabriel & Simms!!)

If he was prolific Crewe would be asking for more than £1m, they’re not cheep you know prolific strikers !

According to Alan Nixon. Crewe want £1m. We’re also interested in Matty Longstaff on loan (Sheff Utd, Blackburn & Hudds also interested)
Matty Longstaff is a grafting creative midfielder who would be an asset to us. Hopefully Sean will convince him to come to us rather than The Blades.
It appears that whoever is prepared to pay the biggest % of his wages will be successful.

When at Crewe Critchley coached Owen Dale when he was a kid so he’ll know everything about him and what he could bring to the team.

Looks like he prefers to play out on the Right Wing, but can play anywhere across the forward line, in that highlight video he seems two footed, with some nice finished from the right wing with his left foot.

At 22, I think he could be decent.

This graphic from a Rovers fan is also very informative, the lad has a high work rate, which might be why Critch fancies him.

We love a number 19.
