“Possession Based Football” Critchley

I,m glad he,s at least explaining his reasons. I ,m impressed with that .
However surely he,s got to get better passers of the ball than Eki and Casey who appear incapable of executing a pass of further than 20feet sidewards.
Norburn must get his pass accuracy better but now Critch has admitted we are a “work in progress” I for one am prepared to wait and watch the development of this system.
No shouting from me this Saturday

Throwing in excuses already to bide more time?
We will not accept negative square & backwards possession, especially if we want promotion!
Zzzzzzz
I’m with you, he’s had long enough, if you add the time he was here before. A lot of players were here last time and surely professional players should be able to quickly adapt. He’s just making excuses.

Loads did, like thousands

Did you listen the Radio Lancs show after our draw?
And those thousands were proven wrong as the season went on, weren’t they? Maybe they should have waited a little longer before throwing their toys out the pram.

No I didn’t listen, the last thing I want to do is listen to people think it’s the end of the world after 3 league games without conceding a goal.

I actually wouldn’t mind if people were having these moans and complaints if we’re still toothless 15 games into the season and don’t look like getting anywhere.

Nothing new here, the football were playing is the same we played during Critchleys last spell here. I can't understand why anyone is surprised. It's going to be a long boring season but it might culminate with a place in the top 6.

What is his excuse for playing one striker in a home game and it being lumped long to a midget ??? That is nothing about giving it time .. that is simply a weird decision .
Presumably a lack of other options, Joseph is injured, Beesley is just back from a season out and is struggling with 90 minutes, let alone 4 games in 10 days, Madine has left the club and Harry Kane went to Germany instead.

I hope we don’t end up playing like Swansea did under Martin, they had loads of the ball but it was so tedious to watch.

I have no problem with keeping the ball and building from a solid base but I hope it doesn’t become one dimensional and predictable, we need to be able to mix it up.

Despite that being our best chance of getting promotion?

Who's this 'we' you speak of? You're not speaking for me and my mates for starters.

Bring back aimless lumping. Went really well last season.
Aimless lumping? Thats what we do now half of the time, but to the, probably, shortest # 9 in the division.

recently watched the Burnley documentary and last season they started off by dropping a load of points by drawing games they definitely should have won.

Wonder how many of their fans cried like little girls after a few games?
I’m all for giving the team and Critch time and the overreaction this week has been ridiculous.

However, we’re not comparable to Burnley at all.

Different football, different budgets, different league.

He also spoke on this after the Burton game, from memory.

And emphasised then he doesn't want to pass for the sake of it, it has to have a purpose. The two halves of the Burton game probably highlighted that perfectly, we were good first and I doubt anyone had a problem with our amount of possession then. Second and since then we've got bogged down.

Someone said it yesterday I think, the key is movement. Make the incisive passes available, then you don't need as many of them. We do become rather static and that's when we're a poorer watch.

Critch's job is to create the team that can move the ball quick and accurate. I'm sure it's what he's hoping for same as us. Tomorrow's selection will be interesting, because there's already some of his consistent picks to date who could be replaced with newer recruits who might just fit that bill. But will he start them, or sub on?

Not comparing us to Burnley in terms of ability, nor am I expecting us to play in the same manner.

what I am saying is a new style of play usually takes longer than 4 games to bed in.

I wonder if it’s worth considering that in the early stages of a very long, busy season, the players are playing at half speed because they fear that The Hamstring Boogeyman will get them.

The fact were able to dominate possession like we do shows we ain't that bad, a little bit more quality in the final 3rd and we'll piss League 1 and I get too bump my thread!

We got battered last season, we had 3 different coaches, it will still be on the players minds and will take time to eradicate. I was as pissed off as anyone with the performance v PV, but I've had a word with myself. NC though will never play mad attacking expansive football, but I do not give a fig if he delivers.

Critchley has said its a work in progress and will get better.

Stop the toys throwing and have some patience.
I haven’t got toys, I haven’t been in a pram for 80+ years, I just happen to think Critchley has one way of playing and it’s bloody boring. It was the same the first time he was here and it’s no different now. So with, or without, your kind permission I will have an opinion and express it. That’s my prerogative, yours is read it or not.

Eh

Important comma needed after fig.

Well strangely I would have played the other available striker at the club … who came on and we improved !!
The guy who's missed the whole of last season with injury, and has struggled to do 60 minutes so far this one.

Fair enough, I'm sure you know more about his fitness than the guy who works with him in training every day.
