Virtually all transfer fees are paid over the duration of the initial contract. It’s also about how the payment is made. I wouldn’t trust Forest with a payment plan over a few years.
It’s alright posters keep repeating the mantra of extending his contract, it’s not a one way street, both parties have to agree. Much as I, along with most others, want him to stay the fact remains if his head is turned by the prospect of large wages he will go. The only thing the club can do is get as much money as possible, take up the option and make it clear to prospective suitors if they want him they will have to pay the going rate.Fully agree with keeping hold of Bowler and extending his contract.
And the killer final ball into the boxOnce he starts scoring goals, and he will, his value will rocket, I’m quite sure NC will get him scoring. It’s a bit like Raheem Sterling when he went to city, Pep got him scoring.
Can see Forest joining Derby in that timeVirtually all transfer fees are paid over the duration of the initial contract.
No it isn't a one way street. He has potentially 18 months to go on a contract he's signed. It’s alright posters keep repeating the mantra of extending his contract, it’s not a one way street, both parties have to agree. Johnson has 4 assists to his 3 apparently and 5 goals to Josh's 1.Brennan Johnson and Josh Bowler are very different sorts of wingers , Johnson is much quicker but Bowler is more tricky . I suspect Johnson has had more assists than Bowler. However , if Florist are holding out for more than 12.5 million , Josh Bowler is worth way more than 3 million, IMO . Stay by the seaside Josh , its always cloudy in the East Midlands .
Yes if the player wants to go or the club receives an offer they feel they cannot turn down then it is right that he moves on. Most of us already know and accept that. Is there any harm though in some of us expressing the view that we would like to see him in a pool shirt for as long as possible and that an extended contract , given he is willing to sign it, could strengthen the clubs hand in future negotiations with other clubs. It’s alright posters keep repeating the mantra of extending his contract, it’s not a one way street, both parties have to agree. Johnson lost at Wembley to us. I'm not sure he's all that.Johnson has 4 assists to his 3 apparently and 5 goals to Josh's 1.
But Josh plays in a side thats just come up too and was new to the club, so takes time to adjust.
His improvement last few league matches has been good and if he started like that he'd have more assists for sure.
Also assists only mean something if the player scores.
If Johnson is worth 14 million they value him at then Bowler has to be at least 6m and tbh in his current improvement would have better assists.
He's 2 years older so Johnson has longer and may progress more but Bowler is more experienced and a better dribbler.
Same length of contract left it seems.
They can't value their own asset so high unless ours is high too.
If josh carries on his improvement and adds a few goals why shouldn't he be worth similar?
We can always live in hope, but hope an aspiration has to be tempered with a little reality.Yes if the player wants to go or the club receives an offer they feel they cannot turn down then it is right that he moves on. Yes nobody is denying that.We can always live in hope, but hope an aspiration has to be tempered with a little reality.
Yeah he's obviously talented but not exactly showing he's leagues ahead of Josh.Johnson lost at Wembley to us. I'm not sure he's all that.
Yet its OK for them to demand ridiculous money for a player not way above Josh.Seems like Forest are holding out for £18m now.
Johnson must be bloody quick then, having seen Josh at full throttle !Brennan Johnson and Josh Bowler are very different sorts of wingers , Johnson is much quicker but Bowler is more tricky . You can miss the boat with players on short 1 plus 1 Deals. Anything over a million and I’d sell. Are there parallels here with the Jerry Yates position this time last year? Huge valuation put on JY and fortunately we didn't sell and reaped the benefits. He probably wouldn't command the same fee now, although imo he's still worth every penny of the 3 to 5 million that was rumoured.
I suspect that Josh might not agree to a new deal, so maybe the best idea is to keep him now and sell in the summer if he won't.
