12.5Mill.

Mentioned on TalkSport, this is the offer that Forest turned down for Brennan Johnson from Brentford.
If Forest want Josh, they need to pay big money.

Bowler has actually got more championship experience than Johnson and this season has probably been on at least as good form. If Johnson is worth £12.5m to a PL club then Bowler must be worth a quarter of that (plus sell on clause) in terms of of sale value. But as others have said clubs like Blackpool are treated as liitle in terms of player transfer fees compared to the likes of Forest. We need to break that cycle

Brennan Johnson and Josh Bowler are very different sorts of wingers , Johnson is much quicker but Bowler is more tricky . I suspect Johnson has had more assists than Bowler. However , if Florist are holding out for more than 12.5 million , Josh Bowler is worth way more than 3 million, IMO . Stay by the seaside Josh , its always cloudy in the East Midlands .

It's strange. Bowler's value isn't 100% about Bowler now, it's about how much of the 12m that Forest hope to get that we can get off them.

I don't fancy our chances without him even if his final ball lacks finesse. If we got £10m, what's the point if we end up back in Lg1?

Once he starts scoring goals, and he will, his value will rocket, I’m quite sure NC will get him scoring. It’s a bit like Raheem Sterling when he went to city, Pep got him scoring.

Fully agree with keeping hold of Bowler and extending his contract.
It’s alright posters keep repeating the mantra of extending his contract, it’s not a one way street, both parties have to agree. Much as I, along with most others, want him to stay the fact remains if his head is turned by the prospect of large wages he will go. The only thing the club can do is get as much money as possible, take up the option and make it clear to prospective suitors if they want him they will have to pay the going rate.

It looks to me like Forest are becoming resigned to losing Johnson and see Bowler as damage limitation.
It would be a nifty bit of business for them if they got £5-10m for Johnson and brought in Bowler for £1m.
I can't see any business sense in letting Bowler go to a rival club and (with the injuries to Keshi, Carey and Husband) further weakening our already depleted squad.
I don't even think the transfer fee should come into the equation as I can only see Bowler's value increasing significantly if he continues his development here.
Its time to tell Forest he's NOT for sale at this stage.

No it isn't a one way street. He has potentially 18 months to go on a contract he's signed.
Right now BFC hold all the cards.....though in 12 months they wont.

And Forest have £12.5m to buy a new player....SO....Bowler must be worth a hell of a lot more now we know Forest can spend big.....

So it's put up or shut up.....£5m and 20% sell on clause

Are there parallels here with the Jerry Yates position this time last year? Huge valuation put on JY and fortunately we didn't sell and reaped the benefits. He probably wouldn't command the same fee now, although imo he's still worth every penny of the 3 to 5 million that was rumoured.

I suspect that Josh might not agree to a new deal, so maybe the best idea is to keep him now and sell in the summer if he won't.

Johnson has 4 assists to his 3 apparently and 5 goals to Josh's 1.

But Josh plays in a side thats just come up too and was new to the club, so takes time to adjust.

His improvement last few league matches has been good and if he started like that he'd have more assists for sure.

Also assists only mean something if the player scores.

If Johnson is worth 14 million they value him at then Bowler has to be at least 6m and tbh in his current improvement would have better assists.

He's 2 years older so Johnson has longer and may progress more but Bowler is more experienced and a better dribbler.

Same length of contract left it seems.

They can't value their own asset so high unless ours is high too.

If josh carries on his improvement and adds a few goals why shouldn't he be worth similar?

Yes if the player wants to go or the club receives an offer they feel they cannot turn down then it is right that he moves on. Most of us already know and accept that. Is there any harm though in some of us expressing the view that we would like to see him in a pool shirt for as long as possible and that an extended contract , given he is willing to sign it, could strengthen the clubs hand in future negotiations with other clubs.

Johnson lost at Wembley to us. I'm not sure he's all that.

We can always live in hope, but hope an aspiration has to be tempered with a little reality.

When Bowler starts scoring goals...regularly...his valuation will rise significantly. That's the only thing holding him back..we can all see the skill is there..but poor final ball decision making and finishing is frustratingly lacking.

Johnson must be bloody quick then, having seen Josh at full throttle !

You can miss the boat with players on short 1 plus 1 Deals. Anything over a million and I’d sell.
