13 April 1970

Not sure I understand what you mean by, 'I just hope the tables are reversed on Saturday.'
I hope the score is exactly the same as it was all those years ago.
Yes, sorry. I wrote that while having a conversation about something else so the 'not' was inadvertently missed out. Now corrected. I hope we get a hat-trick from our number 9 and that unlike Fred Pickering he won't celebrate by having a fag in the changing room.

I expect there will be a few on here who were there when 3 goals sent Preston down to Division 3 and confirmed that we would be promoted to the First Division. A great footballing experience for all of us. I just hope the tables are not reversed on Saturday.
I don’t think our 3-0 win in April 1970 actually confirmed Preston’s relegation, I think it went to the last game of the season which Preston also lost. I remember going to watch Blackpool in the last game of the season at Oxford, what an anti climax that was, I am sure the Pool players had been celebrating all week.

There was me , my Dad and two others in my old battered A35 van. Great night which ended up in the Pelham Mount Club.

The day we lost at Oxford , Watford got a point at Norwich which relegated PNE before their last match at home to Cardiff on 20/4 which
they lost 1 2. Crazy in those days and for many years to come the end of season games weren't synchronised . 77/8 comes to mind!
