2017 play off final

We had some pretty heated arguments on the old board back then, didn’t we?
In hindsight it was good we won it, but I’ll admit that back then I was one who believed any success would extend the old regime.
I don't believe Johnno he would have ever relinquished control of HIS club whatever happened.
IMO he would have taken us into non league football .

It was “Oyston FC NOT Blackpool FC”

One of the “worst days of my life” my partner of 20 years was 2 months away from dying after a “four year spirited fight” against a terminal illness.

I’ve forgiven every mushroom 🍄 empowered by that’s how she would expect me to behave.

And……her family were “family history” Preston Fans.

Back in 2017, I watched less than 10 mins on Sky and turned over. I just had no feeling at all for that team. No disrespect to the players, it was just a job for them.
I couldn’t bear to see those 🍄🍄🍄
Helped my wife at a charity event that afternoon ( this from a fan since 63!). Wasn’t interested- still can’t believe that some of my ‘friends’ went 😡

Well said.

You say that @Sooty59 - I still think we have a lot to thank Bowyer for. Made the club a much more attractive proposition. Bet Sadler was glad he could start in League One and not potentially the National League which is pretty much where we were heading.
And there were some on here thinking a drop to the National League would force a sale. The exact opposite for me. The lower we went in the pyramid, the less drain on the Oystons' resources we were, so the promotion under Bowyer was a good thing.

With hindsight after the court case I’d agree. But at the time I wasn’t interested in anything that would possibly prolong the Oystons tenure.

I agree with both your comments, but at the time we were at WAR……there was no time for “pleasant maybes”
It really had become “ALL OR NOTHING” with respect to the “Triple Relegation” under Oyston Stewardship, obviously only two after the game, but how low we went & so quickly especially with Premiership Parachute Payments too!!!!

Ah Well……All in the past and WE have Critch & SS & OUR “Blackpool Family” all back as ONE🧡🧡

Relegation would have prolonged their tenure. They would have been able to live more comfortably on a smaller budget.
We'll never know for sure, I'm just thankful things turned out like they have & I don't stumble across any of those wankers ever again.

Myself and my good lady stormed the Vic in St.Annes on the afternoon of the final wearing our ‘Oyston Out‘ scarves and started chanting’Oyston Out‘ at the telly, joined by Bobby Mac and a few others whilst the mushrooms in attendance squirmed in their seats! Get us eh! 🤣

Watched it with TAM in the Thatched I actively supported Exeter, as I was so worried victory would prevail “Oyston Reign” as it was it was a good thing we won.

20’s & I disagreed passionately at the time, on that occasion Pete was right. 🧡

Irrelevant if we won or lost they would have carried on in their own way.
Just look back at the events with the court case no way he was going too let the Club go and ultimately it cost him it .

The problem is that our entire history from 1989-2018 is Oyston FC if you look at it as some are.
All those Play Offs, the Prem season, LDV success .. effectively for 30 years we had no club and it was meaningless.
Can't buy in to that - didn't go to the final on principle but I was delighted we won.

Our last few months in the Championship prior to relegation were a nightmare. Pool took some terrible tankings on the way out.
7-2 at Watford, 5-1 at Reading, and for anyone else who had the misfortune to be at Brentfofd, will you ever forget that pasting that a 4-0 score line belies. Those were the darkest of days.

I understand wanting the Oystons out and I am sure every supporter wanted that to happen but I don’t understand actively wanting other teams to beat them. It’s good that we won that final and losing and any relegation would surely not have guaranteed the removal of the regime.

Valeri Belokon was the biggest reason they were removed whatever his motivation but the protests and boycotts clearly helped.

Surely everyone is still a supporter of Blackpool FC however they chose to object at the time .

Mixed emotions although I despise the owner I could never want Blackpool to lose that’s what made it doubley hard .
But thankfully we have an owner now who is one of us and I am so proud of where we are now .

There were several on here supporting Luton and Exeter during the play offs.
Don't remember anything about Luton & yes I was was furious when the team in orange scored, it was my hatred of what the owner was doing & I dealt with my own way. I couldn't separate team & owners, even after the homecoming watching those same players felt like going back to a serial cheating ex. I got told just drop the angst & your love will return (wise words) & it did. Just thinking about that scum still makes my blood boil though.

Probably the most untalked about, but amazing things that illustrate our wonderful fan base. That chasm, that divide could have stayed and been here now. A club our size needs unity. That is our strength.

I was humbled by friends and fans who had been to Hell and back who unconditionally said for the Homecoming ‘all in… enjoy’.

Their grace and dignity will one day be appropriately marked I am sure.

Forgive, but never forget.

I didn’t watch the semi final for whatever reason but got the call from a few mates to go and watch the final in the pub. A couple of things struck me about that day - 1. How much I’d missed being with my mates watching football 2. How much I still cared - remember having that football winning feeling at full time which I’d not had for 3/4 seasons.

I actually think that game reminded fans how important resolving the future of the club was and if anything arguably worked against the O’s than for them!
