2022 Summer recruitment- where are they now?

With Rhys Williams being picked up by Port Vale it made me think of where else the other recruits or that shambolic summer have ended up. Here’s the list.

Rhys Williams- Port Vale (League 1)
Dominic Thompson- Forest Green (League 2)
Callum Wright- Plymouth (championship)
Liam Bridcutt- Without a club
Grant Ward- Bristol Rovers (League 1)
Lewis Fiorini- Charlton Athletic (League 1)
Donovan Lescott- Youth setup
Alex Lankshear- Youth setup
Owen Moffat- Youth setup
Theo Corbeanu- Grasshopper (Swiss Super League)
Charlie Patino- Swansea (championship)
Ian Poveda- Leeds (championship)
Zak Emmerson- youth setup

So, out of this list of players, the majority of which were signed as first team players to play at championship level, only THREE are still playing in the second tier.

Really highlights how poorly managed the club was last year. Patino and Poveda imo are the only “good” signings there, and even Poveda was hit and miss.

The rest were either very disappointing, injury prone, rarely featured, or a combination of all of the above.

Obviously there’s also some players in there who have been signed for the future but how close are they to featuring in our league 1 side, never mind in the championship?

That's a very poor set of players and undoubtedly contributed to our demise last season.

Four are in the youth set up, Corbeanu is in the Swiss super league, Fiorini is Championship standard but injuries have held him back. We just don't have the money to buy and pay good championship players. It's not where we're at as a club.

We have the recruitment guy from Sheff Wed hopefully he can do the bizz paying the big bucks

...and if you jump ahead to this season we've signed Joseph (early days as we keep on saying} but the million plus price tag looks like we've been done over. Fingers crossed I'm wrong.
