22.2m first doses, 1.12m second doses đź‘Ť

Looking at today’s numbers the vaccine numbers seem to be stalling. Hope this is just a blip and Sunday numbers.

Good news.
I live within a 3 Iron shot from two vaccination centres. I sign on the NHS website and the nearest place is 11.5 miles away. I will wait.

So it should be, I appreciate the lag in data but with the numbers vaccinated Im Surprised there’s still any deaths At all.

This is the cases heatmap for the NW:

Cases are a long way down across the board, particularly in those who're likely to have had the jab, but it's not zero, the lowest is around 30 - 40 for those 70+ and rising to about 95 for those aged 50+.

I’m assuming those 70+ are those who have refused to be vaccinated?

No blip. As second dozers come in it will need double the jabs per day. If supply is an issue, jabs time will go back. 2nd d'ers will take priority.

It is a blip in supply as reported in the briefing yesterday. This week numbers vaccinated will be lower but expected to bounce back next week.

A third vaccine is also coming later in the month, so another surge will come.

23 million
1.3m 2nd doses (doubling daily rate too)

The expected shortage is being worked through and it will really get going soon.

I might be imagining this but when I read your post i vaguely remember an option to choose another site if the 2 on offer aren’t right for you.

Gone up again on new cases. Maybe schools testing effect?

Possibly, those cases are "date announced", you need to look at the "specimen date" to get a better picture.

The government now publishes cases according to test type for England (not AFAIK for the other nations); if you dig down into the data on Monday 8 March there were 5,597 cases total in England of which 4,343 were lab based PCR tests and 1,254 were lateral flow tests, i.e. the type used in schools.

The 5,597 PCR cases is an increase of 381 from the previous Monday, the 1,254 LF cases is an increase of 522 cases from the previous Monday's total of 732, so on the face of it another ~ 500 or so cases picked up by in school testing.

The specimen data is however only complete up to about a week ago so it's too early to be completely sure.

Clearly completely ignored what I said

Cases will mean nothing before long. As long as hospitals are managing and deaths are down it makes no difference. It’s never going anywhere so the cases number will just be used as a stick to beat everyone with. The vaccine works so let’s move along.
