Spot onI can't say I know the make up of the asylum seekers - or whatever they are to be called - who are being housed in the Metropole.
Unfortunately some cultures have less respect for women than others, this is something that the women of the great city of Cologne discovered when Germany welcomed in lots of refugees.
I think it's perfectly fair and reasonable for Thomson to express his concerns.
Whoever had 'Trammo @ 21.36' in the Remoaner Sweepstake please collect your winnings from the club secretary.According to Remoaners this country is shoite so glad some want to come here.
Now you know your not allowed a sensible alternative view on here don’t you. Shame on you Malced.Maybe you should read on and see things from a non-lefty perspective. You may not like it for some reason, but it’s a well established political spectrum across the world which ranges from left to right.
The ones on the far left would have open borders to anyone and everyone. The ones on the far right would have no immigration. But away from the polar opposite extremes, there are left wing views which I expect you probably hold if you’re turned off immediately at the mention of ‘lefties’. (Some people get very easily irked.)
My views are probably right of centre. But I’m not ashamed of that. The opposite of left is right by the way. Rather than showing annoyance at what you perceive to be name calling, you can choose to perhaps be more personally effective in a debate by stating your views rather than taking name calling further.
The ones on the left who are content with uncontrolled illegal immigration don’t bear any responsibility for the consequences. Yet they will moan when there’s not enough money for public services. With regards to immigrants landing en masse in our town centre, it may be all ok. But there’s also a risk. That risk stems from having folk of a completely different culture inserted into a largely Christian western civilisation. It isn’t beyond the wit of man to appreciate that there are potential concerns from young men who aren’t as well drilled into how to engage with young females. That’s just one example.
the metropol is a 5h!thole and should be pulled down typical britannia hotel wind howls though the windos and full of damp and mould. It’s not a joke - the council are NIMBY.
Whether it would cost your family a grand or not is irrelevant, as the government will not be paying that!!!
Ps just checked online and a double or twin averages about 45 quid a night, so no idea where you get a grand from.
The reviews are not great either
but there is such a thing as illegal immigrants who claim to be asylum seekers who when refused asylum they disappear and hide their passports so cannot be detained as we cannot prove where they are from so cannot deport themThere is no such thing as an illegal asylum seeker.
So some are a bit cuntish or desperate, just like every other demographic on earth?but there is such a thing as illegal immigrants who claim to be asylum seekers who when refused asylum they disappear and hide their passports so cannot be detained as we cannot prove where they are from so cannot deport them
but how many are single adult males leaving families behind would you leave YOUR WIFE and CHILDREN behind i think I would be getting my wife and children out before myself and i think 90% of people wouldSo some are a bit cuntish or desperate, just like every other demographic on earth?

I can't read that, my browser blocks right wing dog whistle clickbait.Britain is POWERLESS to boot out illegal immigrants
THOUSANDS of illegal immigrants are exploiting human rights laws by burning their passports, which leaves Britain POWERLESS to boot them out because “they have no place to go”.www.express.co.uk
Leave it then. I'm proud of the North West taking on Afghanis, left destitute and in fear of their lives because of the Taliban. The North West being used as this countries dumping ground yet again.
On the north west news the other night it was stating how many Afgans were being moved to the North West in comparison to other areas of the country and the numbers were hugely disproportionate.
In Blackpool over the years we've had councils prepared to take a bung to house problem tenants dis functional families etc time after time, no wonder this town is where it is.
And it isn't going to get any better anytime in the near future.
Aside from the main point of the thread I agree that the Metropole should be pulled down. Once the buildings on the landward side of the Prom are opened up to the sea they have a chance of making something of themselves.the metropol is a 5h!thole and should be pulled down typical britannia hotel wind howls though the windos and full of damp and mould.
give them a week in it and they will all be complaining and end up being moved to the imperial lol
so why come over here if they need asylum to be safe from persecution and famine war etc they have got a safe haven in france.I think you need to read up on circumstances.
Wrong Seaside John. This country can and should be a safe refuge for asylum seekers. In the 60s we took in the Ugandan Asians. That dwarfed the numbers coming in from Afghanistan. Never should civilised first world countries turn their backs on dislodged people in dire need of safety.so why come over here if they need asylum to be safe from persecution and famine war etc they have got a safe haven in france.
No because in france they are held in refugee camps in uk they are put up in hotels who is funding this? aid from the rest of the world. NO british taxpayers fact.
government say we are at breaking point with massive debt so we cannot give health care workers their payrise.
so the right wing propaganda about destroying passports is untrue.
my cousin is an immigration officer he told me about this several years ago they raid them detain them and have to release them if they cannot find any documents relating to their country of origin FACT not right wing left wing or down the middle crap
Any particular books in mind?George Orwell the Eton schoolboy. He wrote about the working class but was rather disdainful about them if you read his books carefully.
i have no problem with genuine asylum seekers and think its terrible the situation with the afghans but im more concerned with the illegals who are flooding into this country they go through the asylum process are found to be falsely claiming asylum and refused so they dissappear undergroundWrong Seaside John. This country can and should be a safe refuge for asylum seekers. In the 60s we took in the Ugandan Asians. That dwarfed the numbers coming in from Afghanistan. We are a major, rich country. We are well capable of dealing with this.
The Road to Wigan Pier saw Orwell describe and recoil at the work and lives led by people who found themselves in the condition of wage slaves, undertaking brutal work and lacking any sophistication to free themselves mentally from the conditions in which they found themselves. He explored similar themes in his description of the under-classes in his Down and Out in Paris and London. The Road To Wigan Pier. Apathy and resignation to their working class fate is how he summarises the people he met, Rather patronising viewpoint. He was also an anti -Semite in his youth,
Where's the evidence these particular asylum seekers haveso why come over here if they need asylum to be safe from persecution and famine war etc they have got a safe haven in france.

“ lacking any sophistication to free themselves mentally” proves my point of his disdain. Plenty of working class people have had the motivation to improve their lives and of others around them. The Road to Wigan Pier saw Orwell describe and recoil at the work and lives led by people who found themselves in the condition of wage slaves, undertaking brutal work and lacking any sophistication to free themselves mentally from the conditions in which they found themselves. None of this showed disdain for the individuals as human beings. I suggest you reread these books.
The expression, 'you haven't got a clue' springs to mind. Have you actually read these books?“ lacking any sophistication to free themselves mentally” proves my point of his disdain. Plenty of working class people have had the motivation to improve their lives and of others around them.
where did i say these particular asylum seekers. If it doesnt suit your agenda wiz then its an insult its a generalisation.Where's the evidence these particular asylum seekers have
A) Come from France
B) Are young men who have left families behind?
Or is it stereotyping of the worst sort?
What about illegal immigrant? There is no such thing as an illegal asylum seeker.
Do you personally know one? Genuine question .What about illegal immigrant?

Surely even the most empathic of people have to realise there is a breaking point for a small island trying to cope with this kind of influx. The same people on here who agree with unlimited immigration will be the first to blame the government for shortages.Wrong Seaside John. Pictures I’ve seen on TV in the last few days have shown almost exclusively young men, coming from that seriously unsafe country across the channel.I see more arrived yesterday than any other single day, same again expected today with the calm weather.
WTF did we pay/about to pay France £54m for? because all it’s done since is increase numbers they must be laughing their Frogs legs off at us.
Like mentioned above anyone else think it’s odd seeing pretty much 100% young males without any family?
Yes we can take them here but so to can France instead of fast tracking them through.
They obviously don’t want to live in the EU.Pictures I’ve seen on TV in the last few days have shown almost exclusively young men, coming from that seriously unsafe country across the channel.

No tourists staying there whilst the Afghans are staying. Can’t see tourists being happy staying there
We don't have more applications than the rest of Europe combined. That's a nonsense statement.where did i say these particular asylum seekers. If it doesnt suit your agenda wiz then its an insult its a generalisation.
you answer to me and the rest on the board the reason why we have more applications from asylum seekers than the rest of europe put together its not for our climate is it so come on wiz why here? its a simple question
The point about 'not enough money for public services' is an interesting fallacy.
There have been several academic studies that have shown that migrants make a large net contribution to the state through taxation, i.e. they are helping to pay for the public services that we all use. We do actually need immigration at the moment as the record number of job vacancies currently shows, we simply do not have enough people in the workforce to keep our economy going.
I'm not in favour of illegal immigration of course, country being a magnet, that also is open to debate. Sicily, for instance, due to its geographical position has many, many illegal migrants to take care of as have many places in Europe like Greece. This is a complex problem and a result of global inequalities in wealth, global population growth and the lower cost of transport. I'm afraid that I do not have any quick answers to this problem but blaming lefties is just ridiculous considering that we have had a right wing government for the last 11 years during which time the problem has persisted and worsened.
Anyway I've got to go now, my
I agree with most of what you have posted.I haven’t blamed lefties at all. I mentioned lefties for context when asked to explain why I thought they were economic migrants. I also referred to left and right wings and the spectrum of political opinions. You make valid points.
I’m not against immigration. I feel for any person that’s been persecuted and has been caught up in a war or famine.
What I’m against is uncontrolled illegal immigration of the likes we are seeing every day. The numbers are rising exponentially year on year. These folk are mainly young men who are paying for an illegal crossing. As mentioned, they pay large sums of money and they’re coming from a safe country where they can choose apply for asylum. But they want to come to the UK instead. So they get taught how to cheat the system and bypass the process. They effectively push in ahead of those waiting to claim asylum legally. There’s a finite resource in home office etc so legal applicants are delayed cos we’re swamped with many hundreds of new illegal arrivers day after day.
Yes we’re a rich country. But local authorities don’t have accommodation and other local services with capacity. So we are having to put these folk in hotels all across the country. Then what? They have to be placed into more suitable homes eventually. We can’t just magic these homes out of thin air.
There is a risk or integration issues with folk who come from different cultures specially ones where they have strong religious beliefs that don’t sit well with the Christian way of life. I’m not saying that means we can’t take in immigrants. But it’s a challenge and a risk that needs managing carefully. When the number of arrivals is out of our control we can’t manage these challenges so well. Someone on here posted that they would have gladly taken an immigrant in but alas they’ve downsized. Well how noble. No one else on here has volunteered to take anyone in. But purely coincidental of course is that the only person willing to do so has alas recently downsized. You couldn’t make it up.
Taking someone in cos they’re being bombed and about to die like we saw in WW2 when kids were sent abroad is indeed noble. I’m not so sure it’s the same thing with regards to economic migrants and I’m certainly not seeing the appetite for that across our population no matter whether they’re left or right wing. Certainly not in the numbers where it would make a jot of difference. Given the vast vast number of migrants and the scale of the issue, we could all take in two adults and it still wouldn’t make a dent in the issue longer term. They would still keep coming. We can’t have open borders. We can stick our head in the sand and say we’re a rich country etc but the numbers are growing and will only continue to grow. That’s no way to manage immigration. We have a duty to manage it fairly and effectively and legally taking in a rounded consideration on the needs of migrants, our moral obligations, the capacity in our communities, etc. Yes indeed we should take in our share of migrants especially where they have helped the Uk forces for example.
But it’s ridiculous to suggest we should be ok with letting hundreds and hundreds of economic migrants come into our country day after day.

Yes we’re a rich country. But local authorities don’t have accommodation and other local services with infinite capacity. I’m many cases they’re already can’t cope. So we are having to put these folk in hotels all across the country. Then what? They have to be placed into more suitable homes eventually. We can’t just magic these homes out of thin air. We already have vast housing issues in our country.

Not one single person is suggesting that though? But it’s ridiculous and unsustainable to have hundreds and hundreds of economic migrants come into our country day after day.
Well that’s not quite correct. We have the main news channels such as sky and the bbc and channel 4. I have seen many of their guests referring to these illegal immigrants as having to make the journeys as they’re fleeing for their lives. Perhaps they were when they started their journey. But they’re not fleeing for their lives from France. Not one single person is suggesting that though?
With respect, you know nothing of the sort. You should try reading less Daily Mail scare stories.I’m not against immigration. I feel for any person that’s been persecuted and has been caught up in a war or famine.
