36 points in 18 games

Three weeks ago I didn’t think we had a chance. In large part to the fact we struggled to score more than one goal in a game.

Was today an anomaly? We’ll have to wait and see, it’s hard to see us not winning every game at the minute. I think we’ll still fall a little bit short but I’m more confident than I was.

The week where we play Sunderland twice could be defining.

We mostly need Gretarsson and Marv back. Ballard isn't fit very often, he comes back and gets bandaged up immediately, and Husbandinho twisted something today. Our run has been built on solid defence, but injuries are making things a tad precarious at the back. Would be great to get Gretarsson back soon.

A lot of games coming up is no bad thing if you are on a winning streak, as you just want to keep playing.

The opposite is also true to some extent.

We are on a winning streak 😋

At the moment Blackpool have played 16 games away collecting 21 points and 11 games at home collecting 22 points.
If they continue their current points per game home/away they should accumulate 9 more points away and 24 points at home giving them a total of 76 points in all.
It's a pity that Pool only gained 4 points from their first 8 matches (4 away/4home)

And as I say if you ignore the ' car crash ' start before we sorted the centre of defence and centre mid the points per game improves from that and could see us on 81 points or more

Unfortunately Tim you cant ignore the start of the season and that's how stats can distort things.
I think that we both agree that if Blackpool continue in their current vein of form then the playoffs are definitely attainable.
As you say, after the car crash, it would be miraculous 👍🏻
BTW I think 76 points gets in the playoffs

It is beginning to look similar to our typical 2nd half season runs where we sneak in the play-offs.

The amazing run is hard to register as its so spread out, we've won 5 out of our last 6 and only conceded 2 in that time (both to Ipswich). If we get the first goal, we win the game - pretty simple really!

I looked at that before yesterday's game and can only see 30 points (should secure play off place ,not sure automatic)but if the form continues who will fancy playing us in the play offs ,we are the play off kings👍.

Whilst I agree with your sentiments Wizz, remember the old adage it’s not how you start it’s how you finish.👍

I think we’ll do exactly what I thought we would this year. Narrowly miss out on the play offs but establish a core group of players to build on for next season where we can really go for it with fans back 👍

I think that this last week has been massive in that we've had two very long journeys against two of the favourites for promotion and beaten them both. This run of home games will decide where we end up and the fact that we have no travelling, potentially plays into our hands.

We have 19 games remaining and 12 of those are at home and only 7 away. That surely is a really big help. You still have to go out and win the games, but we are doing well at home and it also means less travelling during a congested period of matches.

Nailed earlier on this thread: rotation is the key, not just one at two players, but five or six every game. It has to be as regular as that to keep them all fresh.

A few weeks ago, not a chance!! but now? Before I go and book a trip to Wembley though I have to factor in “the Pool factor”. No 1 We never do anything easy No2 when I think we can’t lose ,we do!! ,No3 the play off final winning streak Can we continue it? No 4 will my heart take the strain!! Ah well UTMP!!

It will all depend on injuries. We need to get our long termers back ASAP and hope we do not pick up any fresh ones, particularly at centre half!

I fully expect promotion this season

As soon as Simon Sadler came in it was obvious that the plan was to get out of this league as quick as we could

Big squad overhaul with probably one of the strongest squads in the league now with financial backing that very few can match

Like i said a few weeks ago its a shame we are playing catch up, but its a poor standard and there is absolutely no reason why we can't continue with this 'winning football'

Bring it on

Utp .......

Saturday was the first time this season when I’ve thought the play offs and promotion were a real possibility. Especially with the games in hand.

Roll on Tuesday.

Done well to get ourselves in with a chance. The longer we keep this unbeaten run going the more we can think “it’s on”. Massive game up next.

To be honest I think you can as we have had a new spine since

Agree on the 76 points

That has got you in the play offs every year in the last 5 that were played to a conclusion
