John Lennon got shot. Sad day
I've been a huge John Lennon fan for most of my life. My view is that in the short term his records would not have sold well. However, I think he would have had a renaissance at Live Aid (USA), possibly followed by a tour and a decent album and a couple of singles. Beyond that I couldn't say.Wonder what he would have gone on to achieve?
Dave, I didn't like the way some seemed to be making it a bit of a circus at the imagine memorial in Central Park.RIP. We stayed near the Dakota building a few years ago, and there were still lit vigils outside. Also a small dedicated area of Central Park called Strawberry Fields.
Sorry to be that guy, but I think it was December 1980 wasn't it?
Yeah we were there in 2018 and it was a bit commercialised with merchandise being sold. Got the feeling it was more about the dollar than paying respects.Dave, I didn't like the way some seemed to be making it a bit of a circus at the imagine memorial in Central Park.
Cmon let's sing John Lennon songs , let's clap yeh.
I just wanted to go there, pay my respects then leave.
Can remember the announcement on the radio as if it was yesterday (no pun intended)
He had a social conscience before you got kudos for being right on. Now we've got kings, princes and princesses on the equality bandwagon, and people lapping it up. Yes, I was well pleased when he donated £1,000 to the Upper-Clyde Shipbuilders when they were conducting their sit-in.He had a social conscience before you got kudos for being right on.
