Blackpool boss Neil Critchley is planning a re-boot of his underperforming squad following a sluggish start to the new season. Five fringe players are heading for the swing door - Virtue, Dale, Thompson, Beesley, and Trybull - with a forceful midfielder, a striker, a winger, and a left-sided centre-back topping the ex-Aston Villa coach's wishlist as he looks to add a touch of creativity to a team that hasn't scored for nearly seven hours.

A wish list you want is one thing a list you end up with is another. 🫣

He likes two players for every position tbf, I'd be tempted to play hubby at LWB if we can getn another CH in

I don't think Hubby's got the pace tbh. He's doing really well where he is atm cos the channel opens up in front of him (as why would you track the oppo centre back)

Cover, yes, maybe - but I'm not sure we need 'cover' as much as 'impact players' at the moment.

Can't believe that Dale would be on the list to go. Actually think he's been okay. The others I can totally see going.

Doubt we'll see 4 incoming but maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised

Disagree. JH has been our best threat wide in the last two home games. Throws a great dummy, byline & decent cross.

'A left sided centre back'

That's a bit weird unless he's planning on putting Jimmy on the wing 🤷
Injury and suspension, if we are playing 3 centrebacks it makes sense to have another left sided one.

Yes, he does, but as I said, to me it's in large part because he's able to escape attention from playing where he is. He exploits that really well. He's intelligent and got good technique, but using the space the position affords (by give and go, timing of an overlap or underlap) is quite different from going up directly against another full back/wing back. He does have a nice bit of skill as well, but I don't think it's a bag of tricks or searing pace or brilliant close control (Lyons has the latter I think) - It's just 'good for a defender'

He's literally played left back hundreds of times for us and no one has ever thought 'wow, Jimmy is a real threat' before. If anything, the opposite.

I don't know why you'd take a player who is having possibly the best sustained run of his career in a position and then move him. He's playing well at both ends of the pitch. Lets enjoy that imo.

Opinions innit! He'll probably get a hatrick of assists from LWB and I'll be wrong...

Understand the point you're making td but throughout the course of a season we'll need players to interchange similar positions. To be fair I feel that disconsolate at the moment I could suggest Grimmy playing the no.10 role.

👍

Aye, it's dangerous to rely on one player as well cos he's doing well now.

He better get a move on as the transfer window closes in 4 days
