It was about this time 5 years ago today when my two boys (then aged 9 &14) pestered me to take them to the demonstration v Arsenal in the FA Cup.

I relented at about 10.30am after posting on AVFTT and @TwelveAngryMen saying to join the boycott and demonstration.

Glad we were part of it.

Every credit to the lad who got on the Arsenal team bus.

Crikey 5 years ago !! I remember it well joined the demo with my lad until 3.00pm then went home and watched the game 0-3 if I remember right.

FREE Pint for anyone who can guess where I watched the Pool v Arsenal FA Cup game on TV?

True to my word… Go for it!

Ok, so the answer is…

On the Arsenal team coach!

Escorted it from the hotel to the ground and then to a ‘top secret’ location to stop people climbing on it! 🤣 Not like our demise was Arsenals fault mind you!

About 200 of us watched it in the Excelsior ending with a nice evening stroll 10 minutes before the game ended. Was you there?

Climbing on top of the bus was a very effective strategy in terms of getting publicity for the cause

Did anyone here go to Arsenal in 1999 . coldest night in the history of the universe. phil clarkson netted for the mighty. Highbury lovely old stadium. We travelled on what must have been the oldest train ever. sherlock holmes got on at Rugby. Memories eh

Yes, l was there
Frightening Arsenal lineup including Overmars, Bergkamp, Petit from what I remember. Petit was getting some stick every time he took a corner near our fans, he took it well I seem to remember. Not sure if Henry and Viera played.

at least we saw highbury . my son was fifteen and was worried about school the next day. my wife was wetting herself by the time we got back. but wouldnt have missed it . i have my match ticket somewhere.

I’m not going to argue with that. The ironic bit is the lad that climbed on top is now in charge of closing Bloomfield Road to traffic after matches! Makes me laugh every time I see him!
Now closes Bloomfield Rd to traffic - That's ironic isn't it 🤣

What was the lads name again?

Yep, at Christmas, we were in the clock end I think? Caig was brilliant from memory and the drive home was shit, Terry Henry definitely played but don't know if Viera did.

YES definitely the Clock end. JUST remember phil clarkson scoring and everyone going mental. AND after trying to remember which way back to the train station. CANT even think which one it was. NY son has as a pretty good sense and we followed everyone back but its still quite esy to get lost.

I’m not telling you Pike’s name 🤣🤣

He’s a “cracking lad” Tangerine through and through also a “balcony boy” and also participated in a sponsored bike ride I organised in 2021 in aid of local mental health charities after Covid

There were some real characters I got to know in OUR war to get OUR Beloved Club back 🧡

Goes to show how disillusioned I was during that time, I don't even remember us playing Arsenal 😳

I did, and it was my lads first ever away game.
Couple of things from.that game:
Sly were showing another cup match, think it was Southampton and they switched their coverage over to us halfway through.
Petit who was playing for Arsenal said that he heard the funniest footy chant ever (by us). The French farmers were blockading ports / burning lorries carrying British meat etc.
As he came over towards us to take a corner there was a delay due to an injury and we began singing to him "eat our meat, eat our meat"
