7 days to practice crossing and finishing

After that performance, and several this season, the whole team should spend at least 3 days next week practising crossing and finishing.

I'm sick of seeing our crosses not get past the first man, and sick of seeing all of our team unable to be composed at finishing. Laverty and Hamilton's finishing today would see them dropped from Sunday League teams. Bowler's and Garbutt's crossing was as bad.

Do they not practice? If they do then they need a new coach. If they aren't getting any better then we need replacements. These are basic skills that I would expect a professional footballer.

Everything else at the club is on the way up, but all season we haven't improved in this area. Practice, practice, practice.

They practice all the time it never improves.

They don't have the consistent quality to do it, is the reality.

Our pressing game can be and used to be top class, faded a bit recently.

Passing can range from half decent to poor.

Very few good though balls or killer passes, good crosses or good finishes.

Defending has slipped recently too.

Lots to improve but not many signs of it.

Pete Best practised a lot but didn't have the aptitude to progress. The boys bought Ringo in the drummer transfer window and the rest is history.

One positive is CJ has a long throw which helps. Otherwise the ball gets thrown 5 meters then 4 passes back to Grimshaw to hoof and give the ball to the opposition.

Get him a plastic bucket to sit on like Bielsa, he could just get off it to take throw ins, for all he contributes he wouldn’t be missed the rest of the time.

I’ve been banging on about this all season and even last season. Week after week our players seem reluctant to shoot and when they do it’s not even on target. The final pass or cross is also poor. Like you say, basics, passing and shooting. Struggling to think of an opposition Keeper making more than one save in any given game. Like you say free kicks, corners, shooting, practice, practice, practice.
