900+ passes...

Loads of possession but not many chances and not much purpose. Weird game. Not convinced by either team really. I think Wednesday will get better under Munoz. They have the required physicality and he will probably make them better with the ball. Southampton are well on the way to being the new Swansea.

And the new MK Don's. Passing for passing's sake.

I love the passing game with possession and not forcing something but Martin hasn't quite got it figured out has he. Didn't see that much of MK Dons but Swansea were just toothless most the time. For this style to work you need an old fashioned number 10 type player whether he's through the middle or off the flank but a maverick to make something happen and a lethal striker. Without that you do run the risk of just turning into Swansea with no purpose to what your doing. I hope he gets it right cos I like the jist of what he's trying to do, and he has a chance if he keeps the likes of Tella and the like.

Bores me senseless Martin's teams that 1-0 home win last March where we scored within 5 and they had 77% possession and wouldn't have got a goal of we'd played until midnight was mind numbingly awful.

We played MK and they had all the possession, but we pressed at the right time, nicked the ball and scored. Better teams than Wednesday will suss them, do the same, and beat them.

Totally agree. He needs to add in that stardust at the top end to give them a meaning to what they are doing otherwise yep they'll get done over

For the winning goal Ward-Prowse made an unchecked run into the box to set it up. Was it a coincidence that a minute earlier Wendy had brought on an extra defender (James) at the expense of an attacking midfielder in an attempt to hold on to an undeserved point? Failed to reorganise with the extra man at the back, something to be working on at the training ground on Monday.

It must be difficult for players to actually think beyond keeping the ball when it is so engrained to the extent that they forget to take a chance at the right time.

It's a bit like the polar opposite of the long ball teams of the past. Fans will tolerate it whilst it brings wins but once they stop winning and it becomes a problem with little end product, a bit like Swansea became, the fans will soon turn against it.
