That’s what the EU sends to Russia for its oil and gas. Putins former chief economic advisor says he doesn’t take seriously the threat to reduce dependence on Russia. The only way he says, is a total embargo which would stop the war.

What would be the implications for say Germany, if the EU said we’re stopping all imports now until you withdraw all your troops?

German heavy industry would grind to a halt for starters leading to redundancies unless the EU said they'd pay compensation (basically Germany paying themselves). Would probably lead to a run against the Euro - great news for our summer holidays.

There is zero chance of them doing it, especially as they've also gone 'no nuclear'

It's why our erstwhile friends chose to send Ukraine 5000 helmets on the eve of war; whilst we bolstered them with actual weapons after spending 7 years training 25,000 troops.

Oh how they laughed at President Trump when he suggested they stopped trading with Russia.

Why would Trump want to stop trading with Russia when he was Putin's patsy?

He wanted the Germans to stop relying on Russian hydrocarbons; they laughed at him. It was part of his efforts to see NATO allies actually spending 2% of GDP on defense.

He's an oddity, perhaps even an idiot; but he was right about this.

You got any ideas how we can cap earnings/income/wealth?
