A few last thoughts on the disallowed goal.

Having watched the "goal" from all the available TV angles, it is clear that , although well positioned, the linesman's view was blocked by the QPR defender's body on the goal line . He could not possibly have seen whether or not the ball had crossed the line before Madine touched it. As has been said on other posts he guessed - he had no option. The fact that he hesitated in raising his flag showed his dilemma . The referee and linesmen are linked by radio - I suspect the referee asked for a decision - the linesman had to make a decision - he guessed and got it wrong. The sadness is that if this was a PL fixture VAR would have confirmed the goal. The goal line technology would have been of no help - there is no argument that the ball did cross the line.

Tough to take, and Critch is absolutely right in his post match comments. Ok, we lost two points last evening, but that does not mask the fact that we are a now proven quality Championship side. As has been said many times luck/bad luck evens itself out over the course of a season. Quality will reap it's own reward come May.

Agreed and:
1. If the ball is going in the net, don't tough it - greedy striking doesnt always pay off ! That way there isnt any doubt, questions etc on whether its a goal - it simply is a headed goal
2. How could their keeper not get a red card ? The defender in the shot was never going to prevent a goal - had he saved the pen, then all hell would have broke loose - He was their man of the match too !
3. Same as 2. for their left bacvk who clearly says 'I played the ball !' Yes, well if that's what you call a fair tackle, two can play at that. It was quite clear to anyone, they should have been down to 9 men with 35 mins to play.

We should start making official complaints after every match about the officials as they are causing us to lose more points and gaining us none - think hard, have we had any joke decisions in our favour once this season that's gained us anything?

You could say that over the last three games we probably got the right number of points, just not from the ‘right’ games.

On balance of play we couldn’t have complained much if we’d lost against Sheff U, drawn v Stoke, and won last night, ie 4 points from 3 games, which is what we actually got.

So on that analysis it does sort of even up, but of course as fans what happened last night still stings.

Not only did he guess, he guessed twice. His initial guess ( the correct one ) was it was a goal, given he didn't put his flag up for some time. He then changed his guess ( the wrong one ), after a chat with the ref and QPR keeper.
Always go with your first thought, it's usually the right one.
