A massive thank you to Appleton Out Brigade

You clowns have single handedly got us relegated. You poisoned the atmosphere at the club rather than getting behind a squad and manager decimated by injuries and suspensions and got a manager sacked who at least trying to get us playing football the right way.

Appleton would almost definitely have gotten 6/7 wins to keep us up with the signings he made if given more time.

Now we have dinosaur in charge who won’t play more than 1 attacking player in his starting 11.

If you were singing ‘sacked in the morning’ and booing the manager constantly then this relegation is on you.
We sang it at Wigan. That was the actual last point he should have gone.

So are you saying that the players that were available for selection that day were not good enough to beat Watford's injury ravaged team? Appleton obviously thought so.
We had 7 out injured Watford had 9 out injured

And yes the same Watford who have a player of their own who's worth more than our entire squad

Yep 2 decent wingers and he goes all out defence at Watford who had 17 players out ill and injured. Unbelievable.
Why do the likes of you and others make up rubbish to suit an agenda? 17 players out ill or injured? funny that cos from the Watford team that started their first game of the season against Sheffield utd, which incidentally they won, 8 of them were involved against us. where you plucked 17 from god only knows 🙁

He made it up simple as

They had 9 out

Gosling, Bashiri, Cheverell, Bacuna, Hause, Davis, Pedro, Laura and Kayembe

We had 7 out

I’m afraid the writing was on the wall for this season long before a ball was kicked!
I didn’t have to be a soothsayer to predict relegation this season, from the moment Critchley walked and we appointed Appleton, then the serious lack of investment in the squad which needed strengthening (overachieved last season), the Brannigan/Bishop/Simms farces and then selling Bowler last minute and replacing him with a panic signing on the last seconds of deadline day and we have already got rid of!
It’s been a total shambles since Critchley left and it’s pretty obvious why, he knew he got a bit lucky last season and the squad needed strengthening and he knew he wasn’t getting backed so he decided to walk and cash in on a bigger wage but inferior job.

Can't argue with any of that that's how I see it also

Appleton was uninspiring, spoke badly and his recruitment was poor. It's the loans that have killed us. Could he have done better now the squad is stronger? Who knows. Not convinced MM has even bothered to watch back our matches this season as he's making the same mistakes as Appleton. We live in hope that the second half at Swansea will be the education he needs to select the right team to win

Haven't read the thread because no one else's opinion interests me but it's quite simple...

If you get rid of a shit manager and replace him with a shit manager it doesn't make the sacked shit manager any less shittier.

True Appleton was an unpopular uninspiring appointment of a poor manager and proved to be out of his depth. It was always the right decision to pot him. The mere fact that his replacement doesn’t seem to be working does not have any bearing on the fact that he should never have been appointed, especially on the contract offered. How anyone can lament his dismissal is surprising.

Let's base this debate on form and rightly so as football is a results business.

Form doesn't lie so McCarthy has got more points in 5 games 5 pts then Appleton got in his last 11 Games 4 points. No more need for would of could of should of are even resort yourself to stick up for Crappleton end of debate good night.

3 games unbeaten (edit: with a defeat to Swansea I forgot about in the middle 😉) with a team that has had to put Garbutt and Forini in midfield and without Marv for those games or Big Gaz.

It’s a long way from being good but there’s fight and commitment for sure

100% no one knows what would have happened if Appleton had stayed but I will always maintain Wigan away should have been a turning point.
