About as bad as it gets.

I can only assume that the illness has played havoc with the team and training this last week, as I think MA mentioned, because that was totally abject from every single player from start to finish. If they are suffering illness throughout the team then I can forgive it. Let's hope so.

Having said that, there are a few things that annoy the hell out of me.

Firstly, I'm sorry to anyone who loves Maxwell, but he is not, and never will be the best goalkeeper at the club while Dan Grimshaw is on the bench. If we aren't going to play our best players when available then we can't blame our losses on injuries. Maxwell hesitates so so much when leaving his goal line, and someone of his experience really should have better judgement. The penalty wasn't his fault, and wasn't even a pen. But he just shouldn't be our number one.

Secondly, why do we constantly leave it to the leagues worst passer of a ball, Ekpiteta, to take responsibility for all our balls forward? Why? There's no need. It's never going to yield results. He can't do it so stop leaving it to him. Again, MA needs to do something about it.

Thirdly, it doesn't take much skill, energy or effort to stay organised. In the game tonight at times our players were all over the place, it was like a schoolkids game. We lack any kind of leadership on the pitch, and not signing someone of that kind in summer is coming back to haunt us. Bridcutt is not that signing before anyone says. There is literally no point in signing a player who has such a poor appearance record. You'd think we would've learned from pissing money up against the wall with Stewart. But no. It's piss poor from the board.

Fourthly, it was said MA was keen on runs from the number 8s. Well Michael, what is the point in your number 8s making runs when the player with the ball never attempts to pass it through to them? I've lost count of the times when Carey and Yates especially make a great run, and there's a pass on, but the player in possession declines - in favour of usually getting themselves into a hole and losing the ball.

One thing I do know, only the teams that really want it will stay up, and right now we don't look like we're too bothered. From players, to manager, to the board. They all need to get their act together, and soon.

Yep, blame for all I say.

Perfect gam eto bounce back though with a decent away following.

Shame it won't be full now, as tbf whoever was on the fence probably isn't going to spend valuable cash now, although I'd encourage them to as we need a big performance from players and fans.

But it's just not inspiring at all.

Pretty much exactly my thoughts. The basics are wrong. January is looming large, how much does the owner want Championship football? Get things wrong and we are down with a whimper and a manager who I wouldn't have any hope of bouncing back with.

Agree with most points but you missed out being weak in the tackle. Nobody in midfield or up front has any determination to keep the ball when challenged. Is there no stamina training going on? If an opposition player comes in for the ball we just surrender.

How many times has Maxwell dithered on his line ? Yes he is a great shot stopper - but he is a keeper !! Grimshaw now needs his place back

There is too much to fix. We need to accept relegation and get rid of Appleton. Try and rebuild for the rest of the season as it will only get worse if Appleton stays.

Yes totally agree.

Also, to add to my original post, Bridcutt has made around 70 appearances in the last 5 years, and Stewart has only made just over 100 appearances in his entire career - and he's 29. What makes us think that these players are going to suddenly churn out a 40+ game season? They're not. The hole they leave in the middle of the pitch due to their absence isn't bad luck, it's self inflicted and we need to stop signing players with those kinds of records, immediately. With the money we've spent on wages for those two players alone we probably could've got one of our actual targets over the line in the summer.

… it was being questioned around us if people felt the players were really playing for the manager last night ? Jury was out …

Agree with most of that ,except your Maxwell comment . Maxwell tries to organise a make shift defence . He is as good as shot stopper as Grimshaw and you don't need a great distributer when the keepers have been told to give it to the defenders to take the ball up field.

Have to agree reminded me of the fag end of Ferguson era. Maxwell is a liability think he has cost us 4/5 goals in last 6 games with individual errors, keepers need to come and deal with crosses either by catching or punching away, poor distribution short or long Grimshaw has to return.
We did not look like a team organisationally poor take defending corners all 11 back in the box, no out ball if we win the ball it comes straight back, opposition players free in the box and at the edge of the penalty areas, no one on posts.
On the game poor all round lacking a threat going forward, shaky at the back no control or bite in midfield.
The buck stops with MA over the season tink he is out of his depth, no style of play, poor contact book re getting players in, no in game management and unable to organise a team to resemble a championship side.
As for staying up it will go down to the wire.
