Addiction to furlough

There’s been a bit of chaffing from the usual suspects about how people are becoming too keen on furlough and need to be weaned off it.

Now I know when they say that, lots of people are referring to the employees on furlough.

But really the ones who have seen the real benefit of this initiative (I applaud it by the way) are the businessmen who have had a huge wedge of their costs subsidised by the taxpayer, so they can avoid insolvency and job losses.

So just who needs to be weaned of it? The bosses or the workers?

Workshy slackers will be in the papers by weekend.
I see there is a leaked Treasury document saying that public sector pay will be frozen to pay for the COVID deficit. Still...as long as we get a round of applause we're happy.
We don’t even get that 🤣🤣

Reports that some businesses are furloughing staff and then having them in to work under threat. Sometimes, a crisis brings out the best in people and sometimes the worst.

Businesses will have no doubt frigged the scheme, some employees will have welcomed the opportunity to do fcuk all and still get paid and, as ever, the genuine ones amongst us who try to do right by the system pay the price. Some of the stories have seriously fucked me off TBH...

To be fair the chancellor disparaged these claims when defending the extension of the furlough scheme that he devised and announced,

Well you did't expect the rich to help out did you?

And most time served public sector workers haven't seen a meaningful payrise from their pittances in a decade anyway. More of the same

Tell me again how many weeks MPs have off on full pay every year, how many of the Rich are living off inherited fortunes and have never worked a day in their lives - Strikes me that are moaning about furlough are those who have paid money out for Private Education for their kids or need a Child Minder/Cleaner to come into their homes because its too much like hard work caring for their own kids.

Can I point out that none of us on furlough actually asked to be put on it and that we are actually still paying Tax and NI Contributions and also into our own pensions!

Other than that I’m loving it - been working since 1975 - actually started 45 years ago this week aged 16 - maybe I’m ready for some “me” time eh!

Edit -PS to add that actually this is the best thing the Tory Government have done to protect jobs by the way so kudos to them for that.
