Been announced by The Mechanics that they have a pre-season home game against a BFC XI on Saturday 22nd August. Good to see, even if it does end up being a mixture of youth and fringe first teamers. Even if just for the fact of seeing Blackpool vs Blackpool!

l assume this is behind closed doors, otherwise there could be a 3000+ gate there 😬
Presumably, though I did see one Step 7 club announcing a pre-season friendly today and saying fans will be able to attend.

Just checked it
Hurst Green vs Clitheroe (local derby!):
As a step 7 club, spectators will be allowed to attend our game vs @ClitheroeFC
All COVID guidelines and rules will be in place and we ask everyone in attendance to adhere to them.
Our COVID guidelines will be posted soon and will be visible on arrival at san smithy.
Years ago BFC would have the annual pre-season game at Fleetwood. First time I saw Wes Hoolahan was at Highbury as, I think, trialist. Certainly back in the early 2000's the game would help Fleetwood to survive each year at a time when they were only slightly higher in the pyramid system than AFCB and Squires Gate are now. And it would be good IMO to see an annual Blackpool vs Blackpool game and in 2021 crowds will be back properly. And play Gate too if possible.

I'd have thought 100 people maximum with clear social distancing and even mask wearing would still get some coffers in to the club?!

All pre-Season games will be played behind closed doors with no spectators allowed following Government and FA advice.
