After so many false dawns ..

Could we now be in a position to kick on? Critch himself has said we take one step forward and two back - am not sure if Oxford are the real deal or in a false position but this is the real test of if we’re automatic contenders or play off fodder.
Least they don’t have Joey Beauchamp playing for them!

I think these 'false dawns' are often of our own making, by virtue of the fact that (as supporters) we tend to get a bit carried away with ourselves after a win and, in contrast, a bit overly critical and doom and gloom when we lose or draw.

We might get beat by Oxford, we might not, but either way, I don't see that as a 'false dawn' in the slightest.... I still think that we are making incremental gains and are improving steadily as the season progresses. In essence we are starting to see the good coaching, consistent messages and repetition starting to pay off and that should only improve over time.

It was always going to take time, players confidence would be low after a shit show of last season, new faces, management and system. The likes of CJ & Dougall are finding form again and we’ve had the surprises of Casey & Dale really earning their places in the 11 now.

I’ve said from the start of the season we will be top two and I stick by that. A long way to go yet but we are definitely making some steps in the right direction.

I think the infuriating thing has been we’ve kicked on in the tough games but come to a juddering halt in the easier games. What makes Saturday interesting is that we aren’t over expectant!

Win at Oxford and HMS piss the league might rise from the depths...

Not sure if Oxford are the real deal 🤯
They've won 9 out of 11 league games🤣

Imagine Blackpool being in that position

I think this is a real test for both Oxford and Blackpool. My heart is hoping for an away win with swagger and panache, my head is saying a 0-0 draw. If offered it now, I think I'd take a point.

They don't like playing us. We are their bogey team.

The last time we had an important game against them it was a similar position. The 0-3 massacre ended their hopes. Same again this time. No doubt about it.

I liked Critchleys comment about arrogance, exactly how I hoped we would be this season and with the better performances we should have some now.

Oxford have won their last 5 games and 9 of their last 10. We've got one away win this season. Liam Manning seemed to assemble a balanced cohesive side in the summer before a ball was kicked in anger, while we fiddled about. But we are slowly improving and will give anyone a game in this league if Critch lines his ducks up right.

Hope for automatic as whilst the playoffs are exciting going up in top two give more time to plan for next season

I believe we are improving too , but I still don't get [along with many others]the way Critchley gets a good performance from his team ,then the next match he tinkers with it and we become crap and boring again. I know he says its "horses for courses" ,but against Derby he admitted that they had changed their formation against us , yet did nothing to counter till late in the game when it was already lost. I hope we get the win at Oxford , but I see team changes and a draw at best.

Would snap your hand off if offered a point before kick off given our away form and how well they've started the season.

Completely agree that we'll get better and better as the season progresses, so preventing them moving 3 points further ahead at this stage has to be seen as a positive result.

I don't think Critch will change it much. Carey and Kouassi the likeliest to drop out I think. Possibly Lavery and Morgan in.

Time to step up now, we've many players who've played in the championship and held their own against better players than in league 1.

They're a decent side but so are we when we're at it.

We started a bit slow but that was likely to happen after the season we had and a relegation, given the shitshow.

Big test and time to show what we're all about now.

I think the 3 cup defeats have made it feel like we've had a few false dawns .. our league form has been ..

WDDDLWLWWLDW

Only once have we actually managed back to back league wins.

DONT see us losing . We have been decent so lets just go there and get a result. its on bbc lancs so gonna be cheering the radio.

I think we have 2/3 better players than we had a few weeks ago. JR joined the party and now Kouassi (the minder) and Dembele along with Mr Dale have also signed up for party frolics .
We have old and new heads and a better squad than when we beat Yeovil at our second home.
Nostalgia dictates that I love my play off days out and if we win a few more I might start dreaming .

We are away from home so that means the odds are against us. We are far too easy to play against and give away too many cheap goals.
