Ahead of tonights "Double Round" FA Cup Draw, here's a beauty from 1963.

Needless to say we didn't get past Norwich who were a division below us. The previous season they beat us in the
League Cup semi final and knocked us out in the 3rd round in 1963/4 . Bit of a cup bogey team.

It was the phantom goal match ,the ball went through the side netting at the kop end ,cant remember the result though .

Remember that incident, was on the Kop that day, if memory serves me right the nets were checked before every game countrywide after that.

That "goal" still rankles even after 57 years. Never liked Norwich since. Double never liked Norwich after Delia's drunken exploits!

There was also a "phantom goal" at the South Paddock end in the early 80s. I seem to remember it was Andy Brockbank with a long range shot that curled at the last second, hit the stanchion and ran down the side of the net. The goalkeeper retrieved the ball for a goal kick but the ref had signaled a goal and him and the players were already making their way back to the centre circle. The goalkeeper and the Gazette photographer (Bill Gladwin or Peter Emmett) were trying to demonstrate what happened and get the decision reversed.
