Albie Morgan

I think his recent games have gone under the radar a bit.

Start of the season he was a regular part of a rather pedestrian and laboured midfield, and he (probably rightly) made way for a good month. Starting with his sub appearance at Oxford, I think there's been a noticeable difference in his approach.

Fairly obvious thing to say, but Critch has been in his ear. At Oxford he came on and drove our final 20 mins onslaught (admittedly against a team sitting so deep they were in Banbury). But he was suddenly mobile, always asking for the ball, driving forward, and although the Oxford game was heavily influenced by Kaddy further up, it was Albie often getting things started behind him.

He's maintained the mobility levels, and some real bite in tackles. I think I'm right in saying has been involved in every game since. We're all expecting a Dougall/Norburn centre - one or both depending on the game - but I think Albie is now showing he can provide solid backup and should be third in the CM selection order.

AVFTT world - players need to be immediately brilliant every game straight from the off.

Real world - moving teams for the first time in your life, moving up north for the first time in your life trying to get to know a whole load of new players, new manager and new systems of play might take a little bit of patience before things go smoothly.

Can’t say I’ve heard much criticism towards him to be honest.he can pick a pass and has always looked a decent player to me with the potential to get better.

Morgan is an interesting player. Critch's first signing soon after he returned. Has seemed to lack confidence to me and that tallies with what was said in a long thread about him on the Charlton forum at the time. He divided their fans, some disappointed to lose him, some saying he'd had enough chances.

I think we can see development and improving confidence. Which is partly down to the team developing. It's also about Critch working out how he best fits the system. Possibly deeper than he played at first? He looks a proper footballer, a bit shy perhaps. Not an assertive player, yet at least, but getting more confident. Only 23 I think.

I like albie Morgan. He has a great pass on him and also can take a decent corner
Hope he gets 90minutes at some point.

He's had 9 league starts and 6 sub appearances, and also started the FA Cup game. So he's getting plenty of opportunities.

Best taker of a dead ball. Problem is we have a few players who are very similar.
Yes, they're called midfielders. 😉😀

And I think we have a variety. Morgan is pretty different from Carey. Dembele is a one off. Norburn is Norburn. There is only one Kenny D in the world. Virtue likewise, is not like the others.

For my money I’d have Dougall and Carey as the two midfielders behind Dembele. Norburn for me slows the play down too much with lots of sideways and backwards passing. Carey has really won me over in recent weeks.
The main thing is we now have options as players like Morgan and Carey continue to improve.

I'm glad someone started this thread. I thought when he came on all be it against a team that had given up, he was decent won some good tackles and drove forward with the ball. Probably get a bollocking off Critchley for that, but at least he gave us some impetus to move forward and not just sit on the 4 goal lead. well done lad!

Playing deeper really suits him, I said that after the Lincoln game. He's good on the ball, not afraid to put a tackle in and has a good range of passes. Carey has improved by playing deeper too. Midfield is looking good these days!

I could see that he was a half decent player, unless a lad beats 3 men and fires an angled drive from 20 yards into the roof of the net every other game some people have them down as shit!
Which says more about their opinions than the quality of the player.
I think he has played over 150 games for Charlton at a relatively young age, he is a good signing and will play his part this season.

Too be fair to Norburn he hasn't played in many of the games where we have had Dembele playing behind a front 2.
This change in the lineup makes playing forward passes a lot easier than when we play with just Rhodes up front or a flat 3 in central midfield.

He's a tidy footballer but lacks consistency. That pretty much sums up Charton's fans views. He is young though and maybe he'll come good, he's certainly done himself no harm lately.

Yeah he’s still relatively young and does have a lot of experience. At the right club and under the right manager he will develop further and we are starting to see that. He’s a good player. I don’t think he comes across from a far as being overly confident. His confidence is growing though and the goal yesterday will help it grow further no doubt.

On Norburn, let’s not dismiss him. He will be a big player for us this season.

It was a great finish for his goal yesterday. Great technique. He has a lot of ability and Critch is obviously working on his positional stuff and building his confidence. There's certainly potential for him to grow as a player.

It was a 3 goal lead when he came on!
