Alex Baptiste interview

"My last year did not go the way we liked, if the powers that be above the gaffer were decent I would have been at the club for another seven – eight years. I would have retired at the club, I still live here now so that is how much Blackpool and the area had an influence on me."

Baptiste added

"It is sad as I don't look back. I know nothing will ever compete with my time at Blackpool, nothing will even come close to the experiences. It is a special place and a special club. They were the best five years of my life."

He hints at it, but someone at the Club, high up, basically told him to sod off when he wanted to talk contracts in his last year ie the normal thing.

As far as I'm aware contracts were never discussed and he left on a free. I did post this during that last year and how criminally inept someone high up was.

I live around the corner from him in Cleveleys and we see each other enough to say hello . Seems like a really nice guy. I almost got him up at my karaoke night once! Top fella.

Sure there’s a story in the book about Oyston pushing a chairman into a swimming pool to get the deal done on the cheap? Or am I talking bollox?
Could be true...the mansfield chairman at the time was out of the oyston mould & he quit as the chairman shortly after this deal was done
