Currently sat in a bar in Alicante waiting for my mrs to finish clothes shopping - just checking out pools next few fixtures. Got high hopes and feeling rather content with life. That is all.
Interested to know which bar. We've just sold our house there after 34 years. Red Corner is good for sport also try AustinsCurrently sat in a bar in Alicante waiting for my mrs to finish clothes shopping - just checking out pools next few fixtures. We're not getting any younger. I'm 80 next year and there were about 90 steps to the house. But we love Alicante and will certainly return and stay in a hotel - with a LIFT !!Have ypu come back to the UK and why if not too personal.
It's certainly worth a visit - marina, beach, an impressive castle. You'll find things have changed beyond all recognition since you were there. There's a vibrant nightlife with a zillion bars and restaurants. Be sure to stay in the area around the Cathedral. There's lots of hotels and self-catering accommodation nearby.Went to Alicante over 40 years ago, can remember the Port/harbour and bull ring but not much else. Been meaning to revisit any tips.

Can you recommend any bars/restaurants please? It's certainly worth a visit - marina, beach, an impressive castle. You'll find things have changed beyond all recognition since you were there. As I've already mentioned there are scores of bars and restaurants. I've never known a city have so many. Our favourites are O'Hara's bar (Guinness) on the Esplanada, Austin Bar in the heart of the Barrio (people watching) and surrounded by eating places, Soho Bar in Plaza de Elche (pricey but nice). A quirky place to eat is Lizarran on the Rambla and, if you want to push the boat out, top of the Hotel Grand Sol (superb views). Can you recommend any bars/restaurants please?
