Andrew Cobern

My bother sadly died in 2008. He stood on the kop whilst I went with my dad in the west paddock. Will always be missed. He wanted his ashes to be scattered at Bloomfield
The club were excellent and they were subsequently buried in front of K block.
Wow, tragic but beautiful story

Sorry to hear that. In my class at Norbreck Primary School was a girl called Janet Cobern , not your sister by any chance?

Janet is married to Russell Perkins who I grew up with in Layton. He went on to play and manage Southport, Wilton Albion, Northwick Victoria’s, Macclesfield. He also scored the winning goal to knock Cloughie’s Brighton out of the FA Cup whilst playing for Walton and Horsham.
Both became teachers and live in Southport and are members of Hillside Golf Club.
I know one of her brother’s died.

Yes, now living Southport. Lived in Merlyn Road Cleveleys, when I was born.
She’s still friends with April Smith and Pat Bloomfield.

April’s dad used to teach PE at Palatine when Russ and I were there - fantastic teacher who had some gorgeous daughters who all the boys fancied, but beware of dad!

He may have done but don’t remember him being at Fleetwood. He was the UK trampoline champion and a great athlete but has problems now with his back and hips.

My only contact with him was when I played for Norbreck Primary against Devonshire Road. They hammered us but it was unfair because he was so
much bigger and stronger than any of us!!

Yes bit like John Hurst from St George’s school of Everton fame!
Russ went to Layton school actually, I went to Devy Road.
Did you go on to play for Bispham Parish team?

Walnut, apologies for using your thread to reminisce!
I knew your mum and dad through Janet and used to go around your house in Thornton with Russ and my girlfriend and stayed in your caravan in the Lakes. Small World!
