Andy Lyons says he has been online and have seen how good the pool fans are . He should take a look on this website and see all the slagging of players and listen to what our fans were singing at the Wigan match after having only 10 men played for most of the game. We aren't that great ,but we can still hope for change.
 
Shane the jack russell will have told him how good our supporters are - when the team is working hard & trying their best to win. No supporters anywhere raise the roof if their team doesn't perform.
The OP's criticism, infers that AVFTT posters are not allowed to express any criticism whatsoever, which is add odds with the very nature of most football supporters.
If Andy is as good for us as we hope he is, the fantastic north will soon boom out a song for him.

The energy and passion which makes us better fans than most is the same energy which makes us chant "sacked in the morning", different side of the same coin, you won't get one without the other.

Let's hope this Lyons fella does the business for us, we desperately need him.

If he's been online to see the fans I'm sure he has been online and watched the games .
He's seen all that and probably thought I can go there walk straight in to the team and they'll have a song for me before I get injured.

I admit that when the fans are behind the team and manager , we have excellent fans , but this season ,it did not take much to turn us. Thats where I believe we as fans fall short . We have had the most unlucky season ever and the manager gets it. Yates could not score at all at the start of the season . He becomes a league 1 player who needs replacing . Drop Maxwell even though he has made no obvious mistakes . We are all allowed our opinions ,but god if you are a supporter ,support them. I believe Marv should be dropped until he gets his mojo back , but I would not come on line calling him shit or a league 1 player.

I think there is an element of youth in our ranks that missed 5 years NAPM that haven't cottoned onto the Tangerine faithful mindset yet.

Serious question btw, it works both ways.
Or are you content wearing your tangerine tinted specs thinking everything in the garden is rosey?

It doesn't work both ways. Slagging someone relentlessly has never made anyone a better player at any level.

Everything in the garden isn't rosy but during the 90 minutes, get behind the team and inspire them to be better.

Fans would be motivated by good performances and wins . The players do not go out of their way to have bad games . The fans do go out of their way to give abuse and criticise.

We pay good money to watch them if you put the same effort in your job as most players did against Middlesbrough ,Hull and Rotherham you would lose your job.

I have never known anyone that can measure effort . You must have a gift . I will say one thing though and that is I still play football and i always put 100% effort in , but it does not stop me having a bad game or even the team getting a bad result.
 
I agree that slagging players is not helpful and also it is important to support the team but it is disappointing that there doesn’t seem to be any improvement in the performances.

For me it is not so much the defeats themselves but the manner of the way we play and the lack of passion.

I will always support the players but if the team is not functioning and the style of play poor, then it’s the manager and coaches to blame.

I know people who literally refused to set foot in the place once Appleton was appointed. They are literally out of their way criticising.
