Very sad news this morning, spent much of my youth listening to The Smiths and still do. Not for everyone, but it’s great that my lad loves their music.

My daughter is a fan too and yet wasn’t around during their peak years.
It’s class music that has never aged.

The Smiths rekindled my absolute love of music. After punk ended or became more about noise, all there seemed to be were bands whose members were wearing £2000 suits, singing songs about shagging models, waving pound notes whilst stood on a ** yacht.
When I heard Hand in Glove, that was it. I was back in the music game so to speak. Saw them loads. Followed them around a bit. At the time the Smiths seemed and sounded much more real than the Thatcherite greed is good shite. Rip Andy Rourke.
