Another Fatal Stabbing in London

This time an elderly man in his 80s stabbed to death on his mobility scooter. 59th murder this year in the capital and 6th in 4 days, WTF is going on down there and to a lesser extent elsewhere in the country? Really is a worrying situation!

In a city of about 10 million bad things happen from time to time.
I don't blame Sadiq Khan for all (or any) of them, just as I don't credit Khan with our victory at QPR last night, which was also in London.
It may well be that this murder was perpetrated by someone who is mentally ill.
It seems odd that several on here seek to blame Khan for every bad thing that happens in London.
Does this mean that Johnson is personally responsible for every murder that happened when he was mayor?

I'm pretty sure that would be the case, after all you lot seem to blame him for everything these days, even things that happen abroad. Khan is a shocking Mayor and completely ignores anything like this unless he can use it as a tool to beat the government with. The capital is a lawless disgrace whether you believe it or not. All opinions of course.

Really only " from time to time" ? Surely it is more frequent than that ?😮

Well hes to blame for everything that happens while he’s prime minister so why not😃

Lot's of noise by certain groups on social media calling for Khan's resignation.
Cleveland has the worst knife crime stats in the country. London ranks fourth.
Ben Houchen, Mayor of Teeside must be a shocking Mayor and should resign immediately.
Isn't scoring political points by using victims easy?
Much more difficult is looking at the root causes.

I was there on Tuesday and didn't get stabbed, or see anyone else stabbed. On that basis, in my opinion it's as safe as anywhere else.

Root cause our absolutely shocking Police force who are more concerned about bell ends sat in their bedroom sending offensive Tweets than solving crime.

Meanwhile over 90% goes unsolved so crime really does pay in the UK.

It’s not just that has anyone seem the footage of rioting and looting in Oxford Street? Strangely quiet about this on the BBC I noticed. They would rather go on about how deprived Blackpool is.

58 similar deaths in London alone this year, yet one death in the US raised a far greater reaction in the UK.
Every year, the waste of money, Police & Crime Commissioners across the country, manage to screw us for a higher police precept within the Council Tax (it'll be the same again next year), with the promise of more cops on patrol bla bla bla.
Where we live we never see a cop, just the very occasional PCSO, most of who look like they work in a youth club and couldn't fight their way out of a paper bag.

Who cut police numbers by 20000?
Thought you didn't want to make it political?

Going after Starmer for beer and Curry,Boris cake other lockdown infringements like a snow ball fight and having a few friends in your Garden utterly pathetic waste of Police time and fuck all to do with how many are employed in the service.

Neil Fox,Cliff Richard, Paul Gambachini (read his book how useless our Police are) cases costing millions and not worth the paper they where written on.

All soft targets when real crime goes unsolved.

Great 1st sentence

We watch 'Caught Red-handed when it's on.
Some of the sentences are pathetic.
Suspended sentences for awful crimes for a lot of them.
Last night one guy got'12 months suspended for 2 years.
That'll really teach him.🤨

I think he meant he wanted to make a political point, it certainly looks that way

Do you get your information from a variety of sources and then form your opinions or do you get your information from sources that never if ever differ from your opinions?
I don't live in London so I don't know first hand how good Khan is as a mayor but it seems harsh to blame all the criminal acts of individuals on the mayor of a city.
I wouldn't blame the PM for every crime and misdemeanour that happens in the UK.

Extreme Right and racists continuosly slag off Sadiq Khan. Even though he's Mayor of London and they dont live here, they seem to feel qualified to do that. This govt likes to undermine him too.

His brother lives in Limerick

Was this a race crime ? Elderly white man murdered by a black man? Im sure if the shoe was on the other foot the papers and media would be saying this

gjr69 said 'I wouldn't blame the PM for every crime and misdemeanour that happens in the UK.'

Neither would I, but some on here would.

What would go a long way to putting a stop to a lot of knife crime would be to restore the old fashioned stop and search instead of this stupid bureaucratic nonsense of having to have reasonable grounds to carry out a search.
The majority law abiding citizens would gladly undertake a random search because they have nothing to hide.
Herein lies the problem; toe rags would be claiming a breach of human rights if they were stopped at random and asked to empty their pockets.
IMO this is the only way forward and goes hand in hand with getting some actual police presence on the streets.

I'm actually surprised some on here don't blame him for sinking the Titanic

BTW Where is the thread about the mayor of Liverpool after the recent tragic events there?

It's a much more limited role with no responsibility for policing, it doesn't cover the wider Merseyside region and there's a separate PCC.

Plus she's only been in place for a year, and the post is being abolished anyway.
