Another nail in the coffin of the 'EPL isn't competitive' brigade

The Geordies are going to finally win something and take over from City as the latest club to go from being laughable to being all-powerful, whilst pissing off the elite clubs who only recently wanted to turn footballing competition into a closed shop.

I see some of our bobble hats are getting their Y-fronts in a twist because the Saudi's don't mess about when it comes to murderers, rapists, thieves, drivers without a rear brake light, critics of the country, homosexuals, women, jews, christians, sikhs and shia muslims but politics and football shouldn't mix and we should respect other peoples views.

I think you have to try and separate the two things TBH.

It’s not like they are going to be stoning adulterous women in the centre circle is it ffs.

I disagree. Say what you want about the Saudi's but they respect tradition. How else can you explain their preference for living in the Dark Ages?
a manager or player under-performs, they are not getting sacked, i think they still use football stadiums for other activities there dont they

On a very serious note here, firstly how does the EPL / FA disassociate a sovereign Public Interest Fund from the Sovereign state that set it up and manages.

and

If your state is of the kind where a woman should be arrested for watching a football match and alcohol is illegal, why in the medievel fuck would you invest in a club where the city is something of a party capital, and public nudity is a common late evening alchohol fueled pasttime.

It’s a match made very well. Both parties were looking for the likeminded. The Saudis are delighted to have found a home where women are second class citizens.

A fuck ton of money that needs laundering.

Like they won't all be diving in the dodgy bars🤣

The Saudi Regime is firmly based upon the principles of the DAISNAID style of government.

the BBC is reporting that "The UK government is refusing to reveal what it told the Premier League about the Saudi-backed takeover of Newcastle United because it could "harm" relations with Saudi Arabia."

How the ordinary Saudi people have to behave and the ruling elite can get up to and away with are poles apart. They'll be sniffing coke off a lasses arse first match.

Well the Duchy of Lancaster won’t be short of a Bob or two.
Maybe Betty can come in as a partner to Sir Simon?

Do you respect the view that Muslims in this country should live by a, separate, Sharia Law?
Do you agree that The Chinese Communist Party should pursue a policy of imperialist hegemony in the South China Sea and in Taiwan?
Do you agree that Russia should defend its borders by targeting NATO countries with ICBMs?
Do you agree that there is a morality that should treat people equally and condemn State oppression.

To be fair, we've tried exporting democracy at the expense of hundreds of thousands of lives and it hasn't worked.

Let's just embrace the difference in governance styles; it's far more peaceful.

Thank you for your considered and truthful post, (sincere). But, I have values that condemn misogyny, terrorism, imperialist bullying, homophobia, racism and lots of other isms. It's not about what my country does but what I do. Yes, you are absolutely correct about exporting democracy to Middle Eastern countries that won't wear it. But that doesn't make morality wrong. Treating women as second class citizens in a barbaric and misogynistic way is wrong. Just, wrong. I will not tolerate a State that does it.

I understand your position, but I'm not sure how I can be intolerant of any nation state in a meaningful way.

Do I like Chinese abuse of Uighur's, nope, but I'm using loads of Chinese manufactured technology.

Do I agree with the inability of gay people to be married in the US, no, but my last trip abroad before this pandemic was an incredible 4/5 days in New York.

I'll be using middle Eastern oil in loads of products and so on.

I may disagree with a lot of it, but in reality, there is virtually nothing any of us can do.

If you tolerate this, then your children will be next.

Of course you're right. But don't beat yourself up about it. Not all of America is wrong. Not all of China is wrong. Condemn the States and the politics that cause these dreadful laws and policies. But...don't condemn the people or their livelihoods.

But if we want things to change, it needs to be more than words to make any difference.
