Another nail in the ST Sales coffin

It’s often incredibly dull even when we win

The rationale behind a manager perserving with an approach that continues to churn out such insipid performances is difficult to fathom
Helps if the players get their heads out of their arses and pass the ball accurately.
It’s not the system, it’s the personnel.

I was thinking about this.

The system is touted as the main issue and if only it was changed... yet would we suddenly be marching to easy wins if it was...

It's not all about the system, we've shown it can be good, can be bad, like any system.

It can be defensive or attacking, it's about the intent, the coaching also.

First half the intent to pass, play, run past people was there, just not really a finishing touch. Second half it was dire under the same system and we just fell apart for no reason.

There lies the problem. No amount of glossy merchandising or publicity will take away from the fact this season has been so dull!
With our tendency not to bother with the transfer market until August, it's difficult to see what the PR people can say!

Despite the moaning and criticism I suspect most of us will renew.
It's what we do.
There will be people saying that's it as the season fades out to nothing as it will .
After couple of weeks the interst and anticipation will kick in.
As for Critchley I have been a supporter of his since he came back .I genuinely do not think he will resign or be fired.
Is there a case for giving him another season ? With loans returning and letting players go there will be an inevitable overhaul of the playing staff.
I have no idea about his personality- I don't know if he is stubborn etc

What I do know is his approach to games is too circumspect and entertaining football is certainly not his forte .

I was all for sticking with him and giving him time .We really should have done better but I do think the boring fayre served up is partly down to underperformed players all over the pitch .I understand he is responsible for man management but sometimes players do not step up to the plate .See Everton as another example ' I don't think their malaise is solely down to Sean Dyche

Spot on. Plenty of moaners around us when we beat Reading 4-0

I didn’t think it was too bad yesterday, Carey, Byers, Coulson and Hamilton were positive in the first half.

2nd half we weren’t but got the result in the end which was great for the players.

I must admit my expectations are now not very high so maybe that’s why I was ok with how we played.

One thing I would say is that quite a lot of the fans are very quick to jump on any mistakes a player makes which isn’t great.

It’s like they can’t wait so they can say how rubbish they are.

Having said that the season has been the worst since Sadler took over and a lot of that is down to recruitment and Critchleys formation away from home.

It's how the system is used that's the thing to me. You're never going to break team down whilst passing around the back, whilst they reset and have time to build a Trump style wall.

Home and away show that.

Personally i thought the first three named were ok but i'm sorry i thought Hamilton was awful, he won't tackle and has no heart for a battle, he has pace but wont use use it when the right time arises, his crossing is awful, and his passing well he would struggle to pass wind never mind the ball.

That's where forward passes like 1st half yesterday into the midfield and runs from the likes of Carey to get us up the pitch completely change the game plan.

We fell apart because dichley told them at half time that if they keep a clean sheet they’ll win, f@cking genius. So the players probably understood, defend the 1-0 lead.

A good summer of decent weather, England do well in the Euros, some decent signings, good news on the East and Training Ground, an impassioned plea from the Chairman and pictures of the pitch looking immaculate and hope will be renewed as well as season tickets.
We've all been there when we've said we'll not buy again but FOMO kicks in and you end up buying anyway.
Would agree we need some instalment incentives though to help.

Sonny Carey made a comment in his post match interview on TTV. He said that at half time Critchley had said to them "If they don't score we win 1-0" That just about sums up the mental;ity of the guy.
Carey can only report what he heard Critchley say ... Ever heard the saying: "Don't shoot the messenger!" So, let's not go singling poor Sonny out ...
