As usual like many of us I was buzzing for the game yesterday, at half time I was totally deflated by a terrible first half, forgetting systems etc do we have a team with any bottle or character, they way we easily let crosses into our box was a really worry, we were not aggressive enough to close down the space and just went through the motions. Who are our leaders on the pitch? NC talked about a lack of personality like he is detached from it, he selects those players who did not show personality. Please just have a go and go down fighting as we can all take that. I do not think I've ever been so bored on a regular basis watching a Pool team.

Well they were sucker punched by Wigan and came back.

So I'm not sure about that.

Years ago I attended a coaching course at Blackpool Mechanics. It was drummed into everyone to stop crosses coming into the box. The coach said anything can happen when that ball enters the area. It can get deflected etc so it is imperative to stop at source. I've lost count how many crosses we concede. In the first couple of games the defence seemed sorted but now it's a major concern. Critch needs to earn his money now and sort this mess out.

It does seem like lack of character and leadership is an issue. Who are our aggressive attacking players that get at the opposition defence down the sides and through the middle? CJ? Who are our leaders? Should Norburn be captain? He seems a bit flaky to me. Sulky perhaps? Is anybody driving the team, bollocking players, encouraging players?

We are just too easy to play against. We need a different demeanour. As well as better wide players than CJ and Connolly, obviously. And better strikers than Beesley. Those 3 should not be starting games right now. We've got better.

Well the other 3 games where we've conceded, we've conceded a total of 10 goals without a response at any point. Wigan looks to be the exception to the rule if anything.

It's early days to be fair, I reckon he needs to just get over his stubbornness trying to play a specific system like last time and bring it back to basics.
