Anyone out in Lytham tonight?

Please keep an eye out for a depressed man, maybe in the Taps, drinking alone and muttering the word Critchley. Give him a hug and maybe walk him home with a kebab from Ahmets.

No wonder you’re depressed drinking in Taps. Its full of old women trying to pull a Lytham wannabe. Get yourself to the Ship and then into Marvins. Ahmed’s isn’t a bad shout though, just don’t order veg with your Shish - spoils it in my opinion.

Was in The Ship on Thursday night. Called last orders at 10.15 despite there being a couple of dozen people in there. Shambles of a pub compared The Taps.

Always loved a Shish kebab. Special occasions only though, cos they're expensive.

Oh no. I find the Ship depressing especially knowing it was once a vibrant pub in the 90s.

To be honest, drink mostly at Whetherspoons. It's also depressing but it's closer, cheaper and like using the app so I don't have to get up.

Not a fan of Marvins either. Once you've been to Soul Suite in Blackpool (proper Northern Soul), really struggle with hearing the likes of Whitney Houston and Luther Vandross.

Marvin’s must be a money laundering operation as I’ve never seen more than 10 people in there whenever I’ve walked past although, to be fair, I don’t go to that part of town after 7pm on a Friday or Saturday,

The only decent places to go in Lytham are the fish and chip shops and ahmets .

Avoid everywhere else.

The Taps is a fine pub. Ten well kept cask beers, decent landlord who likes his football, good staff and they show terrestrial and TNT games. Other pubs (no names) take the gastro-diners, chavs, Utd/City/Liverpool glory-hunters, cokeheads, wannabees and lookatmees and other undesirables and the Taps is left to me and the rest of the miserable old barstewards. And I get 10% off with my CAMRA card :)

Steve is a good guy even though Sunderland fan. He was employed me at The Shovels. Good times.

Taps is great. On the rare occasion want to go somewhere flashy, the Deacon (old RBS) is decent. Gets the odd decent live musician.

I’d go to the County and Station above the Ship. County is a bit of a rip off though. Still struggling with the concept of £5 a pint but they probably all charge that apart from Spoons.

Nothing like it was in the eighties and nineties. Queens Talbot County Ship Hansom Cab proper places .

Wish it was like that now .

I’d actually go for a night out in Lytham instead of moaning about it .

I’d agree with all of that except I’m not keen on the beer at Deacons. The County is better than the Ship for the footy but, yes, £4.95 for a pint of Landlord is steep. Having said that I don’t like the Ship Ale or GK IPA in the Ship so drink Neck Oil which is over £5. The Station is good but out of the way so I hardly ever go there.

The f&c shops are crap.

Last Ahmets I had was as greasy as hell.

Taps is OK in small doses. Ship used to be OK, stopped going in years ago.

And @A_Tense_Grin anywhere that plays Luther Van Dross or George Benson & hedges should be closed down right then and there.
Whelan’s fish and chips are great. Other two chippies not as good. 6 pubs serving Guinness. Ship is best pint and best value. Zest on a Tuesday night is the best night out in town for us locals.

County and Station above the Ship? Really? What am I missing?

My wife loves Barique. Each to their own I suppose.

Whelans is overrated.

And I can't be doing with the 'lunchtime ladies' set. I always book my hair appointment for mid morning so I can get parked up outside the library ish otherwise you have 4 cars parked in essentially 10 spaces.

There should be passport control at Stanways and Suella should have been forced to return the East Lancashire vermin that inhabit Lytham to Rwanda. Scum.

Think the Ship just has a reputation that it's full of scallies but that's probably an old perception and undeserved.
Maybe that’s why I like it to. To be fair Lytham is not blessed with great pubs. As others have said Taps probably tops the list but I do find it a bit cliquey.

Lytham has loads of entitled kids, wannabes and 50p millionaires.

Of course there are lots of decent folk there as well but the others just put me off the place.

Kin expensive too.

Yep. 100%.

Captains Cabin too and a chat with George (the window cleaner).

Talbot was an after work place. A swifty then home. Queens was a Friday night (got sick of being asked if I was selling). County a Sunday lunch or evening. Others I never touched until much later.

You're right about East Lancs and Mancs, nearly every house sold in Lytham goes to somebody from Preston, Bolton, Blackburn, Manchester.........they love it in FY8!

Yep Lytham has a great reputation, whenever I go anywhere everyone wants to live in Lytham, for many wealthier Mancs etc it’s seen as a more affordable option than joining the Cheshire set.

These ‘weekend millionaires’ don’t half give genuine millionaires a bad reputation with their histrionic and lairy behaviour

There are too many Nobber shirts for my liking so I can only think they must have moved here. Why else would you support Preston with an FY post code.

The ones wearing pne shirts have usually moved here quite recently, I know of two of them that live next to each other, I call them next door nobbers!
