Been doing some decluttering of stuff to make more space.
Came across this scrap of a newspaper cutting ,presumably from the Gazette.
This would have been sometime in the early 70’s and certainly no later than 77 when I moved to Cheadle Hulme.
Anyone recognise this League( who thought of giving it that name😳) which I played in for the County and Commercial and in that game, wonder why I remember🤔.Maybe you are even mentioned or the team you played for.
I seem to remember that this was the League” Budgie” managed a team in.I also remember I played against one of my elder brothers before he moved to Cockermouth, though he is now back in St.Annes.
it was certainly a Sunday League as Saturdays were for Bloomfield Road 😁3A65D405-E853-4366-9415-ADF3C6FBEF29.jpeg
Anyone know what happened to this League as nothing comes up on Google.

That’ll be Peter Schofield DJ notching for McKenny’s. I joined them in the bottom tier of the Sunday Alliance (a little later than this I assume).

A very rare John Driver hat trick captured in print !
Don’t be cheeky…now I have to work out who you might be🤔…..anyway I usually played in defence but you know Sunday football…..think I probably played every position including keeper which with the footballs in those days was like catching a brick.
I even had one keen supporter, she is still is,least i think so😉as we are still married🥳58BB4AF9-A27C-4DBF-A371-A69F2C226854.jpeg

Well ,I bump into you at matches , played for and against you at football, and used to work with your brother !

All the Sunday league s have either gone or had a huge deduction in team numbers. I was brought up in Bolton. There was the Bolton Sunday league. That is still going. With a few teams. Was a Horwich Sunday league. And a massive Saturday one, Bolton combination. They have gone because technology has changed people's lives. Shame really.

Sadly not just technology but round the clock football on the likes of Sky.
Think there is a lot more junior ( Kids)football these days than in my day but round here it’s Rugby ( Union) that the Kids seem to want to play.
