Made us all go in the Griffin last time and then a bit later to the WeatherspoonsComing out of the train station on the corner is The Griffin ( recently refurbished and is pretty ok now ).
The road running to the right of the Griffin is Botchergate , where you’ll find several pubs. Only decent ones really are Lloyds and William Rufus ( both Wetherspoons ).
Chances are though, the police will try and escort you around the crescent ( facing you as you exit the station ) and on to Warwick Road.
If that’s the case, the Crescent bar is good., as is Bar Solo on the corner
Turning right onto Warwick road you’ll find the Andalusian , which is a nice pub, as is Barton’s Yard anchored to the Halston Hotel pretty much next door.
If you go round the crescent , but instead of turning right onto Warwick road go pretty much straight on, onto Lowther Street , the Last Zebra is only a handful of establishments down , and is a nice pub too.
If you’re escorted down Warwick road the only place really for a pint pre match is in the Rugby Club on the left, just before Brunton Park.
* Alternatively, there’s Stoneyholme Golf Club on St Aidans Road, on the way to the ground. Google directions, and check opening times too.
Doubt they’ll let you in the Beehive, as that’s traditionally a ‘home’ supporters pub pre match.
Plenty of pubs to pick from, but they are my recommendations.
Hope that helps
