Our's are being delivered tomorrow. I believe it isnt a very pleasant experience. Our neighbour's tested positive on Monday and are in self isolation. I guess I'll have to wait and see!

I trust you’ve got a good beer stock just in case. 😉

My niece had it done, she said the swab up the nose was the difficult one, she thought they took a sample of her brain!

Nose one slightly uncomfortable for about 2 seconds
No worse than dental check up but shorter duration
If you are asked get it done as many who are positive have low level or no symptoms - they are the risky ones and will be completely unawares

Tomorrow afternoon at Preston, wouldn’t give me the BWFC option Dave even though I work right by it!
Andy my wife works for Bolton council in a Dementia home and I have a rare lung disease, so I think I got the BWFC slot same time as hers. Ps.. Wipe your feet when leaving Preston lol

What I don't get is the amount of people taking these tests. I'm a Key Worker and work alongside about 30 others, none of whom have had the test. Are people having them to see if they've got it, had it or are just doing it because they can?!

My wife is a key worker, our neighbours have it, so we thought it prudent to apply for the tests through the website.

I’m a key worker and there are probably half working in our delivery office and the other half working later, still not ideal, 2 colleagues have tested positive and one was working last week so I just want to check as my wife is in the vulnerable camp, went today and it was busy and most didn’t seem to be key workers, took about 30 mins, find out in a couple of days

Completely agree.

As I’ve said before so if you test positive but have no symptoms so what? What are you going to do?

Likewise if you have no symptoms and test negative (which would be the norm) so what? What’s your next step?

Surely only if you are unwell you should be having a test? Or work as a key worker I understand that but not every jack man and his dog should be having one as I said above what’s it going to prove?

Fingers crossed for you.

I thought it was just for key workers or those with symptoms at present?

Not for everyone well certainly not at the moment?

I mean If you dont have it are you gonna want it every week to check?

Yeah as Lala says fingers crossed for you both. You are obviously both people that should be tested 👍 .

Hope all is ok Dave

I thought, even if you are key worker, you should only get tested if showing symptoms? The only exceptions appear to be health and care workers and their families who can get tested even if not showing symptoms

Wouldn't it be better if just your wife was tested? That way, your test could be taken by another key worker.

My Mrs is a social worker, doesn't have any symptoms, but our neighbours have it and she was advised to get us all tested.

Unless they've been in your house or you've been in theirs since the lockdown then you won't be catching it off them.

Hope you are negative ,fingers crossed.🤞

I
The Gov.UK website says the test is for:

* essential workers with coronavirus symptoms
* over 65s with coronavirus symptoms

(The bold emphasis added by me. There's a clue in there.)

we said that to our manger when he told us to get tested, and he was told that we should get a test as there had been confirmed cases in our place, and not everyone gets symptoms,

I have been told nothing about taking the test so you can have mine.

Like others have said; there's actually no point in 'testing' to see if you have the virus. What if you test negative today? Are you going for another test tomorrow? What about the next day?

The only real 'test' that would be relevant would be a 100% accurate anti-body test to see if you've had it.

Where I would have invested heavily if I was the government - huge swathes of people could now be back at work and back in society if they'd taken this and been positive.

Key worker, been around dozens of people over the last 6-7 weeks, nobody really social distances properly. What can you do.

All this testing is just plain crazy.

As I’ve said before my son in law tested positive about 3 weeks ago (front line NHS worker at the Vic) had mild symptoms so self isolated for about 10 days in total went back to work over a week ago without any other test to see if he still had it.

Just plain crazy.

I don't think a test is needed...He will not be infectious after a certain amount of time 👍

Both mywife and I work as Key workers ,,,both had tests yesterday ,,,,tests not too bad ..but up the nose did make my eyes water !! only takes about 30 seconds for whole test !! took longer booking in and driving around to the bays doing test and driving out !!

I believe the result's take 48 hours? Does that not make all this testing pointless? All it tells you is, you have the infection or don't have the infection at that precise time.
You could leave the test centre and catch it 5 minutes later.
I'm happy to be corrected.

How did your tests go Dave? My wife has Sarcoidosis and was concerned for you.

Ernie.. Both our tests came back negative... They did take a week to come back though... Bit of a delay.... So my dry cough is my sarcoid playing up... But my wife will probably have to repeat test due to her job... Hope your wife is staying safe.

The government has bought millions of different antibody tests but nobody has developed a reliable one yet
