“But what I tend to find at certain clubs I’ve worked for is that there’s almost an obsession with social media and fans’ forums within the hierarchy."

"You’re talking about these people on social media and fans’ forums and they’re a very, very small percentage of the actual fanbase but their voice seems to be bigger than what yours is.”

Simon, please stop taking this place seriously. It's not healthy for you or the club.

Tell that to the thousands who walked out early on Friday and those shouting out against the manager and the board after the game, it's not just on here and if they are such a small percentage why the fuck did they talk to Raggy, good on him for getting an audience but they should never ever have allowed that, no wonder Sadler is fuming.

Ironically, if they payed more attention to the fans on here or elsewhere they'd have read the room and appointed managers who weren't disliked and actually fit our club.

This site is a fair gauge of the fanbase.

Hitler : " Where is Steiner and his army?! Those AVFTT schweinhunds have got us surrounded! That Commie bastard 1966 is waving the red flag in triumph in sodding Cleveleys! That dummkopf Allez has already opened a kebab shop on the Kufurstendamm! Raggozino is swigging vodka and red bull at my beloved Berghof ! "

The whole episode of inviting Raggy to give the squad a motivational gee up, made us look a bit tinpot to be honest.
SS needs to address the whole support on what are his short and long term plans for the club and not just certain 'groups' who seem to have his ear.
Pathetic coaches, both gone far too late.

Dirt cheap, raw loan and crock signings.

No independent probe on many injuries.

Worst record for red cards.

And Raggy made us look tinpot?

We’re doomed then, everyone on this site seems to be arguing against each, me included

Very interesting to hear a manager say this. It's embarrassing for the club, it's just amateur hour. It reminds me of the Thick of It when they run totally competing policies with polar opposite outcomes by a focus group to decide because they don't know what they think before whittling it down to just one woman from the focus group.

Not heard this about Sadler fuming, where did that come from and what was he fuming about?

I dont think Appleton is a bad manager, but his appointment was'nt a good fit and the Vendetta that has been encouraged on here has not helped
any of the 2 previous managers. It will happen again unfortunately.

Well said.

If people think a fan telling the players we all believe in them to keep us up and this is a special club steeped in history is as big an issue as nearly everything else they’re way out.

I get his general societal point but with Blackpool he was sacked after an awful period of performances not cos of social media.
He was appointed despite massive opposition on social media.
McCarthy is exactly the same and both should have actually gone earlier.
So, all in all Appletons talking sh1te there

When I use to go football with my father in the '80s and 90's there would always be individuals that would shout at the manager or players
or what was happening on the pitch. My father's name for them was " Mouths" it was a source of amusement listening to the guttural tones
and occasionally funny one-liners. Social media has given rise to them having a platform 24/7.

Social media has also given a platform to the individuals that would keep quiet at the match. When you get the podcast commenting
on the match and being critical of players, some are dedicated and watch the matches, and the tv coverage. But I also remember watching Peter/Herts on the podcast who not only wasn't at the game but never watched the match either, it didn't stop him from having a go at Dougall.
Everyone has opinions but it is from their own perspective.

This season the appointment of Appleton was a big mistake, he isn't a great coach but he also isn't a motivator like Ollie. Players have lost confidence, and I can't think of any player that has been here from the start of the season that either improved or remained at the same
playing level. They have all gone backward.

The problem is that the club cannot please everyone all of the time, especially when they are facing the challenges of rapid inflation of costs,
and the need to improve both the stadium and the training facilities. When Raggy was threatening to go to the training ground on the podcast and talk with the players, no matter how well-intentioned should not have been rewarded with a private meeting with the players.

The big problem is that Simon Sadler although a smart, and successful businessman is no expert in football. At least Oyston had the benefit of
Jimmy Armfield for football expertise, we have Mansford instead. Sadler needs to do is get someone to give him the expertise before getting the
next coach/manager, they have to be reasonably local and be committed to Blackpool, and have an understanding of both coaching, managing, and playing. Someone like Thompson, but maybe he lacks management expertise. The ideal person that lives locally when he retires from
football management would be David Moyes.

Your last paragraph is spot on and someone like Moyes appointed to the board would be a big boost for SS.

Who says he’s fuming….. Rektseasider????

Appleton is a nugget.

SS needs to draw up a shortlist of suitable candidates and give the hiring decision to an AVFTT poll.

Guarantee the selection would work out a lot better than MA and MM.

Power to the people!!

Firstly… Let’s be absolutely clear about one thing…. Appleton was a crap manager and Social Media wasn’t to blame for that.

Secondly I do think that BLackpool FC pay too much attention to Social Media. People talk absolute shyte 👍
Spot on on both counts 👍

I don't think social media affected his dire team selections and tactics though. He forgets to mention that.

If that was 100% true he would have been gone after Wigan. Probably with Rob Edwards brought in...how horrible that would have been. 🤦

I don’t like to say “I told you so”, but I 100% knew that he would take a swipe at the board for getting rid of him at sone point (he can’t help himself)…

Unfortunately Appleton , even if he is a good coach he will never be a good manager , his dour personality will always hold him back !
