Appleton comments on Poveda

I've no issues with Appleton saying this sort of stuff but it shouldn't be anywhere near the press, or if it is, it shouldn't be naming players. How would you like it if your manager announced to the world how poorly you are doing? It might provoke an initial response but I would imagine a lot of people would lose any sort of respect. Ultimately if we were winning games and Appleton was liked, these sorts of comments would be less of a problem.

Don't think he's particularly direct or honest. He called the second half at Cardiff a good performance it was at best acceptable. Poveda has played what 180 mins or so of football with us and has never looked like a bad player. Who knows what goes on in training but . . .

The comment the way it is phrased just comes across as an unnecessary dig at the lad, which frankly he seems to do quite a lot.
Appleton praised Poveda and his comment “ He’s coming into it a bit late for my liking “ is fair and honest as we are now halfway through the season. I think the constant forensic analysis of everything Appleton says is an “ unnecessary dig at the lad “ and what goes on in training will be a major factor in Appleton’s decision making process.

This was just a click bait article, if you read the piece not just the headline it wasn't derogatory to Povada (The gazette is just as shite as the DM for all this click baiting recently)

Its a circular thing, appleton wasnt a particularly popular choice, makes a lot of comments that seem quite snarky, doesnt get the results that we expect, we play quite shit, nobody really warms to him, he makes more snarky comments (or just badly phrased) and so on around it goes.

Wizaard's dog killed your goldfish?
Other way round actually...

Presume that's why @Wizaard got his mate Michael to step in...

"He was great" is the opposite of describing how poorly someone is doing.

Maybe Critch was demonstrating to the board that we needed to keep Josh?
How was that tactic ever going to work when Bowler wouldn’t sign another contract? The only decision was do BFC sell him or keep a potentially unhappy player for another season and then let him leave for free. Both Yates and Thorniley are consistently performing in the Championship better than they ever did under Critch last season. Arguably Yates is worth more in the transfer market than the fee we got for Bowler.

"He’s coming into it a little bit, a bit late for my liking but at least he’s showing now what he’s capable of"

Get him out now, beyond a joke.
What were the disciplinary problems and did Appleton cut his nose off to spite his face? A good manager works with indisciplined players not against them.
