Dont really like writing anything negative about BFC.The owner, the manager, the players i am sure all want success.

A bad pre season transfer , injuries and suspensions have all contributed to our poor form.

However i just want to make a point about Appleton.I dont like his style at the side of the pitch during the game,Motionless, emotionless and showing no animation or passion.I wish he would prowl his box and bark out orders and encouragement. Not his style? I dont want to see that in a BFC manager,You might aswell put a cardboard cut out in the technical area.As for his assistant, well he is made from the same cloth.

For the next game I would like to see a more aggressive Appleton in his technical box. More a lion than a lamb.

Hallelujah! Finally someone who feels the same and before anyone says a manager jumping up and down doesn’t win you a game - I think it motivates players, gives them much needed guidance and how many times have we seen a passionate manager win over the referee. I bet Appleton didn’t even shrug his shoulders at that penalty decision.

Add me to the list of those who agree with the OP. I don’t want someone like Nathan Jones, what a tool, but I want more from a manager than what Appleton gives, or should I say doesn’t give.

I agree 100%.
As a coach you need to be able to react to changes on the pitch and pass info to players accordingly.
You cannot wait until half time, as you could end up three goals down (like Middlesbrough could have been 3/4 up).
I think Steve Banks is more animated than Appy.

Nobody gave a toss about his management style when we were beating the Nobbers and played Coventry off the park the other week.
Short memories for some.

This squad of players is a lower half Championship side has been for two seasons and we will have good/bad days and no amount of shouting or waving your arms about will change anything.

Well I did give a toss pre-Preston. We have had some decent performances, including Preston that have massed the problem… well problems. The recruitment has been poor - a part of that is Ben Mansford projecting some image that he is some kind of all knowing guru, with contacts all over the shop. He just hasn’t got what he thinks he has. We need someone like Gary Penrice identifying players as the current system is just not good enough; but it is not ‘owned’ at present and BM is leading some kind of Liz Truss approach in thinking they are wonderful, so all will be ok.

That feeds into the manager. Yes, the recruitment has not been what it should, yes we have injury and illness, but is this guy inspirational? Will he squeeze the best out of what he has? - No. That team last night - a ravaged squad yes - should absolutely zero desire, passion nor pride. I would have accepted a drubbing with 100% effort but it was a half arsed affair. Appleton looks like he’s sulking ‘well Ben, what do you expect?’ Type stuff.

We cannot be unable to criticise the obvious by virtue of the fact we were owned by the Oystons - others you acquiesce to another divisional slide. For all the progress we are disjointed at a number of levels including tactical management acumen. As others have said, listening to Steve Thompson and you hear it from a professional.

It is interesting too that the press (Scrafton and Sean Mc) are being supportive, but hardly resounding in their observations. I really do hate to say it but I have not changed my view from early on that we are relegation fodder and it needs some leadership now to stop it. I don‘t think it will happen though as there seems to be a glazed over view re the personnel involved that really need replacing.
