Apter Returns

I agree that Thompson has energy and enthusiasm, he's certainly unpredictible (good and bad), but his main weakness, IMO of course, is that he lacks a good enough attacking threat which he needs either as a FB or WB.

You get the feeling that if Dobbie had got the job Thommo and Apter would have been regular starters. He is far more inclined to give younger players a chance.
Not sure about that. Apter might have been but Dobbie played Lyons at left back and dropped Thompson out of his 18 despite being available at the back end of last season. Somebody Lankshear? one of his dev squad lads might have got a go instead.

He doesn't need much attacking threat if he has proper wingers infront of him
Very much not true in the modern game. I have had said in the past good teams are built around good FBs a system which of course we don't play. I suppose you might compensate for that by having wingers at WBs?

He has enough to play as either in the correct system

To be a good wing back at League One level is pretty much impossible. You are asking players to be good in both defence and attack like the poster above alluded to. The players are not good enough. If they were good enough, they would be playing at a higher level.

The wing back system is flawed especially with our current crop of players.

We'll just have to disagree on that or maybe you've just not seen him enough times in the flesh.
Don't get me wrong I'm not singling Dom out for any particular criticism its just I don't think he's quite there yet.
I'm not putting him on the transfer list.

I was really beginning to believe in reports from Twitter and other social media.

First Rhodes was recalled to Huddersfield for New Year’s Day fixture at Leicester.
An offer of 250K plus large sell on clause for Apter was offered and accepted from Tranmere.

What next?
Critchley to Plymouth. He did have an interview according to social media.

I've seen enough of him to think that he could be a decent fullback or wingback if given a chance

He has pace and gets stuck in, granted he isn't Roberto Carlos but we are in the 3rd tier

Oh and I did about 30 matches last season

Having listenned to Critch's pre-match presser on TTV he didn't fill me full of confidence that we'll see Rob Apter in the squad 2nd half of the season. He can't of course go anywhere other than Tranmere.

I’m agreeing with Phil on this one, I think Thommo is a good enough player to warrant selection and the more games he plays, the better he will get
He just wouldn't make my 1st choice 11 at the moment, even if we changed systems. One for the future still, hopefully.

Agreed, you’d think he’d be more exited about Rob returning having done so well.

Hopefully, we’re wrong and he gets a chance.

Apter wants out. Might as well cash in as he is out of contract end of season with a 1 yr option in his favour

Perhaps he'll run the ruler over him in January, and maybe send him back to Tranmere if that's the best option for everybody.

Yeah but he’s still on his weaker foot and has to cut back. What about they swap sides Ollie style now & then. I can’t understand why you wouldn’t encourage that as a manager. It certainly would keep the opposition guessing.
Oh & leave someone like Dembele on the halfway line at corners.

Apter just mentioned on Gillette Soccer Saturday with the commentator at the match saying how much they are missing him!
