Are Theo's goals glossing over his abilities

Worst player on the pitch for me (which will be a relief to Kenny Dougall!) - had no control, no awareness, no vision and very little technical ability. A late sub when things aren't going our way at best.

I tend to agree with that. A bit of a headless chicken last night.

He is definitely very raw, and you're never quite sure what he's going to do or try to do and it's not always good; so probably not every game is for him to start, but I agree with Tango1953 and FY5_Seasider, in a dire team performance last night, he was one of the few who occasionally tried to take the game to them and give them something to worry about. And his goal last week was a fantastic finish, shouldn't ignore the good bits!

I think he’s a great player but Appleton’s formation (or lack of it) is a huge problem for us in all areas of the field.

Hmm, I thought he was one of the better ones. There was a few burst of pace and bits of trickery from him that nearly created something, which considering the scraps he was fed...
Tended to run into dead ends and not pass to players in better positions, but definitely not the worst on the night

He all too often cuts back rather than attack his defender. Some of his passing is woeful also. That said, last night was shocking for everyone. As I said about Williams, no point singling any one player out, it was a grim night and one we need a reaction to on Saturday. Too many performances like that and knives will be well and truly out.

Last 8 or 9 minutes maybe but otherwise seemed to be isolated making us look like a 10 man team. We would have been better matching Rotherham up in the middle.

I think he's a better player than he's getting credit for.
He's a hard worker, and he takes his chances.

Personally, whilst he's getting us out of trouble with his goals, I'm not bothered if he's not in the game for 90 minutes. I certainly wouldn't judge him on last night's performance where everyone was like a headless chicken in that awful formation.

Still think Wolves will probably need to send him on loan next season as well before breaking into their PL squad.

We’ve somehow managed to assemble a squad of unspectacular, workmanlike players with very little quality, poor skill levels from set pieces / even basic passing is abysmal.
Bowler went at the end of the window, leaving us sitting on a pile of cash and nothing in its place until January, hoping that BM can get (any) deals over the line this time around.

If this team was a Quality Street it would be the block of chocolate. It’s basic and ugly. Easily outdone by even the poorer quality toffee penny.
When we take on a toffee deluxe, it could get messy.

Not a good comparison. I like the choccy block one.

I like him but last night shows that he needs a more disciplined role: ie. play on the centre-left side of midfield and don't stray. Last night he was all over the place and whilst that free roaming role can work for some, it doesn't work for him.

Theo’s more like the orange chocolate crunch. Pleasantly appealing with a surprising crunch and strong aftertaste. With time, he might become the Green Triangle. Last night, however, he was an Orange crème.

Patino might already be the Purple One, or will be soon.

Nah. I leave it to the end. Sometimes I’ll give them to work colleagues or just bin them off.
It’s no Yorkie or Toblerone
Who would be the Peanut Brittle then? The one they binned off as it was always left at the bottom of the tin come New Year? 🤣

The Boss!....for those of a certain age.

Theo works hard, he actually tries to drive us forward and he is composed in front of goal. Yes, his first touch and decision making are often terrible but I think the positives outweigh the negatives.

Wasn’t the worse for me I think Williams can put his hand up for that. I think Theo has a lot of skill but he’s very weak in the challenge so gets barged out very easily. That’s why he’s probably been loaned out to toughen him up.

Ray Charnley often looked clumsy with below average ball control but 200 goals for Blackpool meant he was priceless to the team.⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽

At least he tried to make things happen, better than the leaden, uninspired plodding of Connolly and Dougall.
The problem the front 3 had was the full backs and the midfield duo barely got anywhere near them. Makes it hard for the forwards when everybody else in the team is so static!

From what I could see behind the goal, when Theo was running through there wasn’t much option at all for him.

There was, however, countless times we could have played a through ball to Jerry but the ball came through about 20 minutes too late or was played behind him 😂

No, I don't think so. I like what I've seen so far. Can't judge him on last night because he got zero service and when he did get the ball there was rarely anybody on.

I think there is a player in there, I said a while ago that he's a bit like bowler (tin hat on) in that he's another head down player, which is really good when he's closing down a defence and surging solo on goal, but not when you want teamplay. There was one really good move started yesterday 6 or 7 really quick passes and subsequent player movement but as soon as it arrived at corbaneou's feet he ran at three defenders and lost the ball despite having three passes on into good spaces.

Agree but I would sign him tomorrow
He needs work but has a lot of potential.
Bowler had similar issues at the start of last season.

He’s whacked in a couple of beauties but in general terms, a bit cack… I have a feeling he could be one of those whereby that’s it!

I would play him down the middle, contrast his first touch for the goal against Huddersfield, with his first touch when he tries to take someone on. The goal against Udders was, killed with right, buried with left. I can't kick it as far as his first touch, when trying to beat a man.
