Another sure fire vote winnerWell deserved knighthood
Same as Sir Kier thenWell deserved knighthood
You’re at least 100 years too late. More like Minister for the 18th C when slavery still existed.minister for the nineteenth century chimney sweeps and bowls of gruel.
I say go the Belgium option, they went without a government for the best part of two years and nobody noticed.A real government! God help us all if you mean Labour
A nicer Englishman.. The very epítome of privilege, snobbery and entitlement. Well put.Well done JRM couldn’t happen to a nicer Englishman.
I’m still waiting for Ollygon’s reply as its bound to contain the terminology little englanders.
Well put it this way I won’t mention any right now but some of the knighthoods over the last few years are quite flabbergasting JRM isn’t as bad as it seems to me a lot worse people have kneeled down trust me.A nicer Englishman.. The very epítome of privilege, snobbery and entitlement. Well put.
Kneelers will as kneelers must.Well put it this way I won’t mention any right now but some of the knighthoods over the last few years are quite flabbergasting JRM isn’t as bad as it seems to me a lot worse people have kneeled down trust me.
Still too modern, minister for fuedal rightsYou’re at least 100 years too late. More like Minister for the 18th C when slavery still existed.
Come on!!! Coupled with the Dorries debacle earlier today, this is clearly an attempt by Johnson to cut Sunak off at the knees.
Can we please have a GE now and then the Tory Party can play it’s games in the background while a real government gets on with governing.
You mean **.A nicer Englishman.. The very epítome of privilege, snobbery and entitlement. Well put.
Fully deserved in my opinion. Not so bothered about Rees Mogg.
But Ben Houchen becoming a Lord is nauseating.
He might be the first person in history to have it removed before he receives it if we can get to the bottom of the stuff he's involved in locally.
Fully deserved in my opinion.
He alone has saved Teeside from closure, he’s regenerated the port and created thousands of jobs so can’t believe you have said what you have.
I couldn’t have put it better .He has "saved" an airport by spending close to £150m and counting, an airport which will never break even, let alone start paying some of that money back.
And with lots of things surrounding Ben Houchen there are opaque dealings around ownership with his two favourite business partners being the only people to financially benefit (beyond employees).
The same two business people who now own 150 acres of prime development land bought for about £1/acre wood a tendering process.
Land which has had £200m of public money spent on to reclaim it.
And which they appear to have been the only beneficiaries of the scrap which so far has raised £90m with about another £150m remaining on site.
Throw in a couple of Mayoral Development Corporations which are moving public assets into what are essentially private hands and you get the drift.
Oh and I forgot to mention the dredging, which was deeper than it's ever been (to allow for the Freeport) and but by ure coincidence there was a coastal ecoside from the Tees to Whitby.
Oh he's also in the High Court for going back on an agreement with PD Ports who donated land to STDC, as part of the development of the area, but with a guarantee of free access (which they have had for 150 years) as he is now using it as a ransom strip which he's expecting PD Ports to pay to use.
Land which is now 90% owned by his two business mates involved in the airport and the 150 acres breakfast he gave it to them as part of a restructuring.
As a tax payer, I'm furious.
It's either corruption, or cronyism or incompetence.
All 3 of which should preclude him from becoming a Lord. And when the independent investigations take place (not the hand picked ones but this Government) he will lose it.
TS, I often disagree with you politically. but this is spot on, and thanks for all the detail, some of which I was unaware. This is the fundamental problem with this type of political system and rules. They can do what they like and the electorate are always playing catch up, needing litigation to recover what has been lost.He has "saved" an airport by spending close to £150m and counting, an airport which will never break even, let alone start paying some of that money back.

Jaffa, instead of trying to look "beyond" I'd focus on what is under your nose. The enterprise Zone on Teeside is a massively dodgy undertaking, which "Private Eye" in particular has been forensically exposing for years.Fully deserved in my opinion.
He alone has saved Teeside airport from closure and it’s thriving today.
He has regenerated the port area and created thousands of jobs by creating an enterprise zone along the way so I can’t believe you have said what you have about someone creating jobs in such a deprived area?
Sometimes you have to don your cap and look beyond wether they are a Tory or Labour and actually look at what they achieved.
get rid of the lot.lord la la a lady trumpington from trumpton. wtf .do they do all day. apparently they keep checks and balances on ongoing legislation. i could do that for stupid money every day.JOKE.The whole honours system is outdated and is corrupt, they like to throw a lollipop lady in the new years' one to make it look like there is a degree of equability but it is just an old boys and girls club and it should be stopped.
Honestly I don't really share my political views on here. I'm not as contrary as some posters, but I don't care for hypocrisy and things which are anti-democratic.TS, I often disagree with you politically. but this is spot on, and thanks for all the detail, some of which I was unaware. Look North has covered it, but you can't help but think that if it was the Thames dredging causing it, it would be all over the national media.Well said!
I can’t believe the ecocide on the Teeside and N Yorkshire Coast hasn’t had more national coverage. It has been shocking. Walked on Sandsend beach in Autumn 2021 and you couldn’t avoid crunching over thousands of dead crab shells and other crustaceans. Tragic, and many livelihoods wiped out. Still going on.
The investigation has been a whitewash and pissed all over research by three local University Departments.
Pyridine from the steel industry years dumped out to sea almost certainly to blame, and the DOE citing some unknown pathogen that doesn’t seem to worry them enough to even bother looking for it .
Unbelievable really.
